One of the best ways to judge who will win the "P.R." battle over this bill is to hear the reactions from each party. We know what democrats said.

But listening to John Boehner cry like a ing baby on the house floor proves Republicans got PWNED and they know it.

Repugs had a chance to add something to this bill but because their strategy of obstructionism failed, they now get nothing.

    1. The true changes needed were simply tort reform and denial for preexisting conditions... both of which cost nothing to implement.

    2. We all know that, the real scam is that medicine was "free" before. It was already ridiculously overregulated and patients were denied care all the time. Maybe not by the government, but by HMO boards. No difference.

    3. But, unfortunately, the Republican version was "Hey, if a doctor is on coke and kills your dad, you can get maybe 50k". I realize there are risks in medicine, but it's just one special interest group getting rewarded at the sake of another.

Hmmm. "Republicans got PWNED today" because they opposed a bill which requires everyone to hand a large amount of money to a select few corporations?

In retrospect there may have been a lost opportunity to influence the legislation for the better, but the decision to obstruct seems to have precluded that from the beginning, and the policy alternatives offered by the GOP were frankly a joke.

Let it sink in, the law is passed. It will never be repealed. Let us hope its business- killing features turn out to be somewhat less than lethal than advertised.

That's just a hunch, admittedly, but I see no reason to prophesy the end of capitalism or even capitalism as we know it....that's a process that started to culminate in 2008, but really started in earnest 3/4 of a century ago, when we began to resemble the Soviet mega-bureaucracy, and the state began to administer/manage everyday life in the USA.

The present handwaving about the USA's incipient conversion to socialism underscores the naivete' of the ordinary American, who is already a socialist to a degree undreamt of by most of his grandfathers, and whose society has been distinctly socialist in many respects for a very long time. Indeed, since the time of most of our grandfathers. (Wino is 42)

a Medicare-for-all NATIONAL public option, promised by MN, will fix the mandated subsidies to for-profit insurers.

If wrongies are so against mandated-under-penalty subsidies to for-profit insurers (and they really aren't), then they will support a national public option (not in the state exchanges), but the shrieking, -throwing monkeys won't support that, either, but they are nothing but shrieking, -throwing monkeys.

The Democrats lost the PR battle over this bill a good while ago. Most of the Democrats are saying...well, yeah it kinda sucks but it's better than nothing.

    That's not a ringing endorsement.

Only a very few choice, party hardwired asshats think this is some great piece of legislation.

Liberal Democrats are now the handmaidens of corporate America. Congrats.

, the only reason those corporate provisions are in the bill is because the lobbyists paid out the ass the to have the GOP kick and scream to put those provisions in the bill.

They did not get pwned. They do not own this bill whatsoever. They still have their positions. They still have their millions.

This is all long-term. When people look back down this road 20 years from now, they will look to this bill as the start line. Only then can l33t pwnage be dealt out.

So you say you're not a dumbass, but you think that the lobbyists were spending their money on the party that was unilaterally opposed to the bill and didn't have any control over the process to begin with.

If you think MB is some kind of knee-jerk Republican, you haven't been paying much attention to his posts here the past couple of years.

Besides, your "communist" smack is ill-chosen: corporatism is a feature of fascism, not Communism. It transcends party allegiance in the USA.
