JR Smith - the guy with no bball IQ and the potential to shoot a team in and out of a game? You trust him to guard the Dirk-Terry p'n'r?
try some paperwork instead, head.

I have to admit to the crystal truth JET sucks defending some certain types of players, which whereas doesn't mean he doesn't play good defense in general. George Carl just recognized JET's shorter stave and managed to pounce on it by treating him with a SG he's sick of.
I'm not opposed to having Marion out there in crunch time, but your top six players are Dirk-Kidd-Butler-Haywood-Terry-Marion. Based on matchups, I think the odd man out is either Marion or Haywood.
Call it the two-man game then, a play they've run for 5 years and is one of the big reason they've won 70% of games decided by 5 points or less in that span.
Marion only makes shorts where he gets rebounds, while he turns dumb immediately situated in a position where JET/Dirk/Butler shoot the ball. Marion's shot doesn't do helping mitigate the opposing defense.
Not sure what this whole debate is for, especially all the haywood chatter. I've already established my ending lineup of Kidd/Terry/Butler/Dirk/ Eduardo "El Rayo" Najera. JJ will play over Butler if he is shooting over 40% OR I want to unleash my genius zone defense.
Terry can create his shot, Marion can't. Terry helps spread the floor for Dirk because teams have to respect him, Marion can't. If Marion's defense is needed out there so badly because of a wing on the other team, you can pull either Haywood, Butler or Terry. This isn't Marion versus Terry, it's one five-man unit versus another.
I think their best five-man crunch time units are the following:
Haywood-Dirk-Butler-Terry-Kidd
Dirk-Marion-Butler-Terry-Kidd
Haywood-Dirk-Marion-Butler-Kidd
Phoenix has both, and whataburger shouldn't even be compared to In-n-Out.
No, he can't. Kidd is awesome shooting the 3-ball when his defender cheats off of him to shadow Dirk in the low post. But playing the pick and pop game with Dirk? No way.
From what I've seen of Butler so far, he works best getting the ball iso'd in space. Maybe after a training camp together, he and Dirk will develop some two-man chemistry, but I'm not seeing it now.Or Butler? , Butler might actually use the pick to get a lane to the bucket, Lord knows Jason Terry won't try anything so rash and aggressive.
Mavs have never built a squad orientated to paint. Because you don't have a quality scoring center you have to face extremely tough defense in paint, which makes it almost impossible to score there in half-court offense. Mavs can only achieve a couple paint scores in fast breaks and all. You'd be nuts if you think Haywood is such a center that scores inside.
W'burger is really the closest we have, chain-wise, to compete with In'N'Out. I've had a better burger in Texas than what you get at In'N'Out, but it's not a chain.
But agreed, In'N'Out > Whataburger. Don't hate on the Whataburger though.
I am Vegetarian now, brahs. No more In-N-Out.
No. As a spot-up shooter he has to be respected when teams slack off of him to help on Dirk, but if you force him to put the ball on the floor or chase him off the 3-pt line, he's not much of a threat to score.
It's da troof, brah. Thom Yorke is vegan and he's so dreamy.
And btw, as far as Butler goes, every single one of my preferred five-man units has him in it, so you can stop asking me about Butler, because he'll be in there.
damn, brah. that's the equivalent of having your balls chopped off.
Brah, I'm not a hippie or anything. It's not like I'll be going to Rally events protesting people who try and nuke our imagination. It's just a healthier life style.
Not really. He's strictly a spot-up shooter from behind the arc. He can't create his shot. Terry can spot up or put the ball on the floor. So can Butler. So can Dirk. Kidd can't play the two-man game with Dirk like that because teams will funnel him to a certain spot (like mid-range where he throws up nothing but bricks).
Like I said, it's not Terry vs Marion, or Terry vs Butler, or Terry vs Kidd, it's about five-man units, and I think in most instances the odd man out will be either Marion or Haywood.
My 2 cents on this Terry vs. Marion closing lineup debate, there's no clearcut answer as to who is clearly the better candidate. What can be taken away from the fact you're arguing about which one dimensional player should close the game is that Dallas is still a complete 2-guard who contributes on both ends of the court away from being a real contender.
Yep, all of this is glossing over that fact.
Dampier for Iggy in the offseason BOOK IT![]()
Dallas would beat the Zombies or Portland. Phoenix is a real threat to upset Dallas in the first round, and honestly, I don't think it matters which of those three five-man units the Mavs go with in crunch time, Denver is just better.
