Timmy just didn't help offensively. He did everything else extremely well. He also held gasol to 10 pts. He just didn't have legs for scoring and he settled for too many jumpers. But I will take this type of defensive effort every day for Timmy. Pop just got b-slapped by phil like he always does.

Phil played 3 of his starters over 40 minutes while Manu only played 33 min.

The moment he took out Manu and replaced him with RJ and not Blair, I knew that it was over. Despite what all their fans say, they have NO answer whatsoever for Manu. I also thought that he did a good job on kobe. Pop should never double team kobe unless it is a game winning shot and their Wide open 3 pt. shooters hit their shots or got another chance with an offensive rebound. Blair only played 10 and he had 5 pts and 6 rebounds which was more that mcdice.
Even though mason and bonner missed a few wide open 3's; I like the fact that they competed which brings me to RJ...too depressed to write about his effort tonight.
    Timmy is a warrior
; I just think that he is playing with pain more than any of us realize. He has had no lift on his jumpers since Jan. Pop needs to sit him one of the games against an easier opponent. In times like these, we really miss Tony. The lakers were in the penalty at 7 min. and no one went to the line. This loss hurts because it was the lakers, but I was proud of the way most of the team showed heart.

I think that the way the fakers celebrated that win tells us of the importance of it to them. You would think that it was sending them to the finals or something. They didn't even celebrate like that when they were sent to the finals. Artest played great defense, but for God's sake act like you won a regular season game before....GEEZ.
Have you ever send the Spurs act like that before?

This lost hurt, but there are other losses this year that were FAR worse than this one.

I agree. this guy still is the 2nd best center in the NBA ...carried this team early and is a good defender.

bblame Bonner mason and Bogans ...plus the lakers are better ...

Manu was great tonight but Kobe is better ...

Duncan had 12 boards 6 assists and 3 blocks ...

even though he didnt score much ... Duncan was great on the other end and getting his guys involved.

Duncan had a bad shooting might.

But he only took 11 shots and made his free throws.

He had 12 boards, 6 assists, 3 blocks and 2 steals, with only 2 fouls committed.

He was involved in the offense, as usual, with zilllions of picks and was always moving.

He had a ty game, but actually had better stats than Gasol.

Spurs fans are so ing stupid, it's ridiculous..honestly, our fanbase might be the worst of any NBA team..

Duncan is 34 YEARS OLD WITH A TON OF MILEAGE ON HIM..there has NEVER been a big man in the modern era with Duncan's mileage that continued to play at a consistent level..it happens to all of them..

He had to carry this team in the 1st half while Manu and Parker battled through injuries and Jefferson didn't do anything..he's the only guy that can anchor the defense and the only big on our team that plays any defense in general..he usually has to battle 2 bigs in the paint all by himself..

He's now showing his age and mileage, and so many idiots here are calling him out for being a "pussy", having "no pride", and no longer being a "warrior"..

    It's ridiculous..
    Well said.

The reality is the organization took him for granted and wore him out. Why would anyone who's followed his career question his effort, heart, etc. the outward, phony, look at me "emotion" of Garnett, Bryant, etc., Duncan is as compe ive as any player in the league. Compe iveness has nothing to do with this, physical limitations are what this is all about and the organization has exacerbated those limitations by taking him for granted because they're cheap and ignorant.

Seriously though, did some people here not watch the first game vs. LA?..he tore Bynum's ass and completely dominated their team..there's clearly been a difference from then until now, the guy is obviously declining as the grind continues..

Timmy D is as compe ive player and still giving his 110% on the court, the problem is that he's Tired!! He gave everything he has on 05,07. He's as tired as Stephon Marbury,Steve Francis,Allen Iverson,C-Webb Ex... but he still working his butt off. I hope the Spurs organization fix this mess before Timmy Retires because it's looking Sad.

LOL at anyone hating on the man who brought this team 4 les and two MVP's and so on, you guys are pieces of !!!!! Seriously he was and still is all heart, he tries every night whether he does well or not every night anymore! He is our best player ever, period! This dude is the sun the earth and the moon and stars to us! Without him we never get one le, you need to recognize him and realize he is what we always wanted and needed!

He is worn down now after years yes, and tired after carrying the team for so long on his back without a true C beside him since 03 (Nazr in 05 for half the year or less). To diss Tim is like to diss your mom or dad, you do not exist without TIM! GOD BLESS.

This isn't 2003, buddy. Expecting a 34 year old Tim to dominate like Dwight Howard against the best frontcourt in the league, in the middle of the week of , after having carried his team through half a season, without his starting PG, is stupid. He had a bad game, and is not MVP of the league.

He will occasionally be able to get crazy good games (2 games ago for instance), but expecting that out of him every day is nonsense.

It's called growing old. Whether or not he "cares" is completely irrelevant. I'm sure Duncan would much rather prefer that his body worked the same way it did when he was 25.
When players retire from the game, it's not because they don't care. It's because their bodies are slowly breaking down and they can't perform up to standard anymore.

Maybe if I concentrate really hard and whip myself up into a frenzy of care, I'll be able to go play basketball in the sun all day like I was able to do when I was 18...

in theory this wasn't supposed to happen. a healthy Parker and Ginobili from the get-go means a different Duncan right now.

when healthy, he's the Spurs 2nd best option, with Parker and Manu basically sharing the one depending on who has it going that particular night.

he's our third option, then, basically. sometimes he can be number two when he's on, but he just doesn't have the physical capability to bring it anymore like he used to agains the best teams.

the problem is that it's being exposed and asked to do too much at this point in his career.

i'm hoping when tp gets back things can come together magically, but i'm not counting on it.

people need to keep in mind, though, that those scoring drouts don't come with Tony being out there. not only that but artest and Kobe will both have to guard someone who'll actually make them work their asses off. yesterday, both those guys could basically take the play off when he wasn't guarding Manu. that in turn affects their offensive game.

i still think RJ needs to be involved more and in different ways offensively. popovich needs to make this a point of emphasis. it's seems like he and the players forget that he's out there. the guy is CLEARLY not someone who hits shots periodically throughout the game. he's GOT TO FIND A GROOVE AND GET CONFIDENT. so establish him early; try to get him going; otherwise you've got him out there with his thumb up his ass for the whole game, and what's the point in that.

I don't think Tim cares, at least not about this team, not about this season.

Maybe he's spoiled after so many seasons where the Spurs were contenders.

I think it's pretty ty he's not having some pride and competing no matter what. It's $275K/game, the fans deserve better, even if there's no chance to get out of the first round. You go down fighting, not quitting.
The amount of FAIL and irony in this post is bewildering.

I can`t blame him for being old and tired, but I don`t like that he`s not adjusting to his present abilities. 2-11 FG ? Going for fade aways, angry but silent... I watch him carefuly in defense - a good amount of the defensive situations he tries to move away from guarding his match (Gasol, Howard the other game). He looked like scared from them. Maybe I`m wrong, maybe noone else thinks that way, but I share this with you. He makes more mistakes than the stats are showing and his silent frustration transfers to the other guys (RJefferson leaving Kobe for a smoke break at the 3).
OK, that`s enough for TD now, I`ll move on to the Pop bashing thread now.

All i know is i said this about month ago so im not as surprised . No so much thw warrior part , there's no doubt he trying . It's the struggling part and so will the Spurs to win against the best. They miss his inside presense on both ends.

Now it's up to Tim to adjust to how he's feeling on the night.

Timmy will always fight for this city, every game and every minute he's in. It's obvious he's in a slump though, and the STUPID decisions of some people managing the team only make these sorts of slumps more apparent because Timmy gets even more worn down when he's got no back-up and is expected to carry the load on his aging knees.

You wouldn't send a Navy Seal to take over a village held hostage by Kobe Bryant and the Lakers. You need 3 Navy Seals, you need the BIG 3!!

He's been sent out there to hung out to dry all alone all season long, when we've already seen last season that he simply cannot physically grind out a full 82 games season at this stage in his career.

This is such a lame thread. The guy is a legend who is not what he once was, what do you want Tim to do, get into a time machine and find the 2003 version of himself?? His body is not reacting like it used to, a lot of mileage on the tires. Happens to the best of them..
