Why in the world the Nets would do that trade anyway?
That's two awesome contracts they got with Lopez and Harris.
How about this.

It gets you a good PG and a good, young big man to play with Tim.
You may fire when ready.

Don't you know that in the eyes of a Spurs homer, any team will take our crap to make the Spurs better?
Now, Parker isn't crap, but you know, it can be done. And since the trade machine says it works, than it's the FO's fault if the trade doesn't happen.
I mean, why shouldn't the Nets make that trade when you really think about it.![]()
no to Harris in Spurs. He is pathetic, stupid etc.
No way Nets would trade Lopez for anyone right now.
Even the talk about trading Tony Parker is hardly "raising the bar".
Leave the kid alone, just wait ... TP will be better after this injury.
TP is still a great player. TD needs help inside before he totally breaks down (almost there now). The only way to get that help is to package a bunch of the young guys (Hill, Blair etc) or send Parker in a trade. So, we have a choice to continue down the spiral path, trade our youth, or do a sidestep rebuild and move Parker for inside potential. Of course the 4th option is Splitter to the rescue for those of you who are the eternal optimists.
Trading Parker, though not the most popular idea, is the best option to get good value in return. Every other trade scenario is simply a salary dump that would not return anything of value.
Hill and Blair's contracts combined wouldn't get us much, plus we lose our youth movement.
It's Splitter or bust at this point.
I'll do it.![]()
Any Chance the Spurs could work-out some sort of sign and trade with Toronto involving Parker for Bosh somehow?
I dunno, I kinda see Bosh wanting to leave Toronto if they don't make the playoffs and San Antonio would be the ideal place for him...
OP i thought you were legit...seriously your being a homer right now the nets would never do this
I'm holding out for the OJ Mayo/Mike Conley trade I brought up around the deadline.
I think he's being sarcastic...
I'm really not a fan of Conley. Conley will never be the PG of a championship team.
Anyway if Spurs wanted to trade Parker it would be for another elite PG... they have no other options: Hill is a SG who can play back up PG but he is not a primary PG. They can pick a PG in the draft but nobody that would be ready quickly. I don't see Nando running the point of a nba team next year.
IMO there is 0,01% chance to see parker leaving the spurs.
We could imagine to keep the Manu/Hill combo and trading TP for let's say Conley + Gay but it would be a of a risk considering the age of Manu and as I said I wouldn't give the key of the spurs to a guy like Conley.
I can't believe such a joke thread is still around. I made it because I saw Harris, who's a good PG and Lopez as a talented up and comer and remembered the "Trade Parker" threads that keep popping up, so yeah.
IF (big if) the Spurs were to trade Parker, then pursuing the deal I proposed is one I'd sign off on. However, I highly doubt either team wants to make that deal.
Harris is a good player, but Parker is championship tested and proven. That counts for a lot for a team with le hopes.
it all comes down to price, and no way we are going to overpay or trade for Gay, that guy is fkn overrated....
i prefer to trade parker + splitters rights and aim for bosh or some ...
Trade Parker for a Lopez it could be good but I don't see why trade Parker for a SF+PG combo.
Parker is a 20ppg player,a top5 PG.He's a lot better for the team than Conley+Gay.
We need a big man for the future. If you don't have a Lebron or MJ you need a big guy to win championships so if we have to trade Parker it has to be for one of those big guys.
I didn't think so either...I was just going off the info that was our there at the deadline. Supposedly they were shopping them as a package but couldn't find any deals worth listening to.
Tony and Splitter rights for Bosh would be sweet.

Boom. Tony Parker and McDyess are traded to LAL for Gasol. Gasol and Duncan form the best frontcourt in the NBA.![]()
Here is a reason to trade Tony that most have not thought about. TP is the premiere free agent for the class of 2011. Because of this he might try and command a max contract which I do not think the Spurs will want to do.
what is a max contract
no one knows yet aftter the new contract is signed
owners want 4 years max and 33% less money
Jrue is an interesting target, he has major flaws in his game like the TOs but he can do a lot of things: passing, shooting the 3, good defender, he is quick but once again it is too risky: he is playing extended minutes since few minutes it's a small sample to figure out his potential but yeah I like him
