And whats up with all the lame negativity, even if it takes some luck your supposed to root for your team remember??? Your team??
if we play L.A if... its going to be alot better than you think actually we could very well win the series, you guys are thinking of the past 3yrs all in which manu wasnt manu, and remember we werent far from winning that fixed game in L.A with crawford so think real hard yes l.a just beat us but without parker if he steps out on the floor it already begins to help us out. if you really think about it its not that hard to believe. yes they got gasol odom and artest but we can handle them without bynum im sure of that and remember we have something they dont a young insane strong rebounder!! with a healthy manu fnally playing out of his mind, and tony coming off the bench keep hill consistent and we could beat them .......... it GO SPURS GO
And whats up with all the lame negativity, even if it takes some luck your supposed to root for your team remember??? Your team??
I have noticed the lame ---laker worshipping---here lately...and I can't understand it either---unless---these guys are actually undercover laker fans...
the lakers.
In fact, any Spurs opponent, whether it's the lakers, the hornets, or the knicks. I can understand realism and people wanting to vent, but at the end of the day, when that ball goes up, it's all about 48 minutes of Silver and Black. Win or lose, I plan to support my team, i don't care if they're bound for the Finals or the lottery.
You are an IDIOT dumb !!
There's no WAY the Spurs are beating LA in the playoffs. they beat us one time without Kobe and Bynum. We have a bench that fears compe ion. You cant rely on Bogans to play good defense all series. Bonner to keep shooting lights out and Mason to miraculously get out of his slump. Blair is in a slump and idk if he can get out of it. I can count on the big 3. Dice seems done to me but he can turn it up in the playoffs but then again people were saying he would get better in the second part of this season and he hasnt fully. RJ will hopefully stay confident. Hill i think still doesnt have what it takes to be aggressive all the time but i think he'll be decent.
Basically we're counting on 6 guys to beat the Lakers and you got to be loaded to challenge them. Still that doesnt mean Im not supporting the Spurs. I hope they do well but im not gonna sit here and say they can beat LA because really they can't. The most the Spurs can win is 1 or 2 games if they get lucky. Unless the Spurs miraculously turn it up then I'm still saying the Lakers will win.
This is a good example of the laker worshipping...
first---you DO make some good points regarding the matchups and whatnot...
BUT----the line----THERE IS NO WAY THE SPURS ARE BEATING THE LAKERS IN THE PLAYOFFS----
OR--the most the spurs can do is win 1 or 2 games---IF THEY GET LUCKY!----
that-is-not-exactly-a-spurs-fans-opinion.
some fans call it realistic, some go to great lengths to demonstrate why the lakers have our # this, phil has pops # that, lakers frontline this, etc...
ANYONE can take the time and point out negative points---and make it look like a realistic argument...
will the lakers be favored....sure
will the spurs be fighting an uphill battle...possibly...
but
is the statement----THERE IS NO WAY.....
accurate or a fact------uh.... NO
I can sit here and say---the spurs have not been 100% healthy against the lakers in the playoffs in years---this year---they might be almost 100% ---therefore ---there is NO WAY the lakers win...
or
manu is playing at a very high level and in the playoffs manu is a warrior
parker will be rested AND healed--therefore---no nagging injuries---that means he will destroy the lakers...
the spurs bench is the best in the NBA---therefore---either Kobe will play 7 games times 48 minutes----or else as soon as he rests----the spurs will surge ahead--there fore---spurs win
on and on...
we are spurs fans so ----ON THIS BOARD----
you would expect to hear this kind of argument--but as soon as someone points out reasons why the spurs have a shot---
geniuses like you will say---haha---I can't believe there are still spurs fans who believe---or somesuch nonsense...
should the spurs play the lakers in the first round and lose----I will give the lakers props and move on----not kiss their ing ass and put down spurs fans who believed---
BUT---
If the spurs win----WILL YOU BE ABLE TO SAY YOU BELIEVED 100%????
calm down homer
Realisticly Spurs have about 10% chance of beating Lakers in round 1
theres another genius---
now---if you actually believe---
the attempted put-down----is HOMER!
ok... alleged spurs fan
The homer needs to calm down. People are just telling him that the Spurs are not favored in a series against the Lakers and he goes ape on them.
I am calm.
The point was that people are NOT exactly ---just saying the lakers are favored---yes---they would be favored---rightfully so---I agree on this---I can see the standings and the recent history---so I do understand that much.
but a LOT of posters are going the EXTRA mile to worship the lakers---saying we cannot win---don't have a chance---we will get swept---we NEED to avoid them at all costs,etc....
and that was what I was trying to point out---
that there is a difference between admitting that maybe the spurs are not as good as the lakers this season----
AND ---the other (pointed out above).
that was my only reason for responding----to try and point out the EXCESSIVE laker worshipping.
so because we recognize that the Lakers are clearly better team and Spurs should avoid them if possible, we are worshipping them???
Why instead of ing, don't you post the reasons why you think the Spurs are on par with Lakers and have a good chance to beat them in a series??![]()
Dude, all people are saying is that almost all the odds would be against the Spurs.
Have odds been beaten? Of course, but the possibilities of that are very, very unlikely. Hence the meaning of odds.
Keep up the good work silverblk mystix. Better to read a Spurs fan that has some enthusiasm, than some of the doom and gloom posters on here.
Ok...fair enough...
I had thought of going into a long step by step approach ---pointing out the spurs strengths/advantages....
but I will keep it simple---go to the heart of the matter---because this is the meat of my argument....
Earlier in the season---I was really pissed at Pop and his decisions---I thought that he had completely lost his way----
But the truth is that there are only two SYSTEMS that have worked and resulted in championships in the last decade or so (referring to the western conference)---- The Spurs/Pops and Lakers/Phil....
putting aside personnel for now---because both teams have had great players too----
...and what I realized is this---
the philosophy regarding chipping away at the rock---and defensive chemistry--- HAS BEEN PUT TO THE TEST THIS SEASON MORE THAN ANY OTHER---
and if Pop STUBBORNLY continues to stay the course----
HE MAY PROVE to be right , yet again....
there are signs that the tide is turning---the team is pulling together...
and bottom line-----
if spurs fans still believe that the spurs system is still superior to the lakers system---then the boys will execute the system and in the end it will result in the ROCK finally cracking at the end of this trying season....
I believe this will be the most satisfying ending yet to a really nice Duncan era...
call me naive--but those are my reasons---other than I also believe the Lakers will implode under pressure this year...
I tried to make a point without any arguments. im a laker worshipper? never in this in decade will i worship the lakers. the reason why im so negative about this team is because i dont want to set myself up for disappointment. i dont understand you calling me a non real spurs fan. what do you want me to say? Bogans will play great defense on Kobe and look like the player no one expected he could be. Bonner will drink some of Manu's mojo and make in all his 3's. Mason will get out of his slump by the playoffs. Tim will be a monster against Gasol. It's all CIA Pop. That's an example of a homer's opinion which you are. And that's pathetic. Don't be like Laker fans. Have some sense. And be realistic which most of us are.
Seriously dont even start crying if this team loses. It won't be a surprise. And again I'm still rooting for the Spurs to make an upset. Believe me. But because I don't believe it doesnt stop me from being a fan. I trust the big 3+ Pop. The bench? not so much.
I like this guy. Tbh i always thought it was incredibly gay when the mavs fans would pray that they avoided the lakers in the playoffs. them - i want to beat their ass and the only wY to do that is play them. If they beat us sfw theyre the no. 1 seed for chrissake!
Wow...did your mommy teach you how to say that? I mean, when my wasn't in her mouth and she could actually speak.![]()
I assume I'm being lumped into the "laker worshipping" crowd. I can assure you I'm not particularily fond of them.
All I'm saying is that it is in the spurs' best interests to try to improve their position in the bracket so as not to play them in the 1st round... for reasons I stated before ----- Parker will be shaking off rust and the lakers will come in fully rested after coasting this last month of the season. This laker team you've been watching lose lately (without Bynum I might add) is not the team you'll be seeing in the playoffs once the they change gears.
1st round will be tough for anyone facing them, but they'll be easier to take down after a couple playoff series that will hopefully go 6-7 games and start to wear out their core players and make it easier for a team with better depth to wittle them down and beat them.
