It's going to be tough for the Lakers to reach the Finals for the 3rd straight time this year. The issues for the Lakers are health, motivation, and of course if they still have enough gas in the tank.
Right now, Kobe is still playing at a very high level, but it seems that playing without a break since 2008 is catching up to him. The bigger concern for me is Gasol. From 06 or 07 I think, it's either he's playing for Spain or the Lakers.
I have said before the season starts that Gasol's international play is going to affect him this season. Add to that that the Lakers have gone very, very deep in the playoffs for the last two (possibly three) playoffs. As expected, Lakers fans dismissed it saying Gasol's only 29 and he'll manage.
Honestly, I still see the Lakers beating OKC, Blazers, and the Spurs if they meet these teams in the first round. However, it's going to be very, very tough for them. They'll still reach the WCF though, but the long season and the tough playoff run will completely exhaust them. When they reach the Finals, I see them getting swept.
