Mere minutes after the San Antonio Spurs selected little-known IUPUI off guard George Hill with the 26th pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, Coach Gregg Popovich made some stunning predictions about his team's newest acquisition.

I liked this from the article

The Rockets trailed by only five at the half, 94-59, thanks to Brooks' smooth stroke and 12 points from rookie Chase Budinger.
Apparently, we were spanking the rockets, but then barely scored in the second half and allowed them to catch up to us.

I'll admit that I thought the Spurs made a mistake when they drafted Hill. That was probalby as wrong as I have ever been as a Spur fan. I now do not think he will be just a good player like so many others. I believe he will continue to progress and actually be an allstar level player before his career is over. His drive and determination is what got him to this point and there is no reason to believe that he will not continue to progress. He can shoot, drive, pass the ball, and play defense all at an exceptional level.

I never even look back on Batum because of George. It's just SO much harder to acquire or develop a PG than a wing that I know we'll get our young wing soon, but it could have been years and years before we got a young PG again.

Can you even imagine the disaster of this team being run by a Jacques Vaughn or an Nick Van Exel right now?

He's already in that category, IMO. If he had a starting gig (wishful thinking on my part) I think he could move into the discussion of being in the semi-elite (top 10) of the league.

That last game he was incredible. 30pts on 73% shooting, 7 assists, 2 reb,
    5 steals and a block.

His game is very similar to Rondo's, not quite the rebounder, playmaker or ball hawk (yet) but that sweet 3 pt stroke of his makes him better offensively already.

GHill reminds me greatly of Joe Dumars. Both 6'3", is a shooting guard that can play the point, can score at a very high clip, and has the defencive potential of a Dumar's level.

I'm not sure how many of you do remember Dumars back in his hey day , but I remember him giving Micheal Jordan fits when Detroit played the Bulls, and according to Jordan he was the best defender Jordan had ever faced. I can definitely see Hill becomming this in another year or so.

Yes but it' only the last game and against Houston,
very far of play-off game) then if you look at the last 6 games

    New jersey 8/19 AST 3 TO 3
    Boston 5/15 AST 3 TO 3
    Cleveland 6/17 AST 6 TO 3
    LA 8/14 AST 4 TO 2
    OKC 9/14 AST 0 TO 2 PF 4
    Atlanta 3/10 AST 3 TO 2 PF 3

It's not perfect. With only one game for a rookie you can look at
    Beaubois MAVS @WARRIORS
    40 pts in 30 min 15/22 with 9/11 at 3pts REB=8 AST=3 !!!!

This can also be said about the Spurs this year!
Not me personally. My team will be in the playoffs and I will be cheering them on.
