1. Extension for myself
2. Extension for JJ
Our season is done and the work should have begun. to make some quality moves this summer we've got need a provident plan. we can't be satisfied with where the Mavs stand, until Donnie get some balls and turns a man, who always tries the best he can.
1. Extension for myself
2. Extension for JJ
if they are gonna give you an extension they might as well resign Damp
LOL mavs
LOL thought they were going to contend against the Lakers
LOL dirk
LOL spurs
LOL thought they were going to contend against the Lakers
LOL duncan
LOL Mavs
LOL thinking that trade made you better than the Lakers
LOL Barea
lol, this thread is kin of dumb in a way, maybe the Mavs won't win this year, but the season sure it's over they are in a tie with like 3 other teams with the same record last I heard
Mavs offseason mentality has to be "all ing out"
Risk the future to give the boys a shot at winning a ring next year.
It really is the last shot, if there is one. Dirk will be 32 and Kidd will be 38 come 2011 playoffs so even then, it may be too late.
Its just so damn tough with Lebron/Kobe surrounded with quality rosters, and who knows if D-Whistle will get a toy to play with next year. Dirk is great, but those players are better, and when those players have better rosters it becomes even more of a quagmire.
Dampier/Butler/Beaubois must be dangled!
And a new coach
umm .. mavs went all out this year, butler, haywood, marion .. the list is huge ... not to mention quality rookie like beaubois ..... at some point you have to realize the core is not good enough to actually win the championship ...
LA, Magic, Cavs are all looking quite strong with their respective superstars ...
Why would you LOL Tim? He has had a great year and is a champion?
He's just mad that his wife never recovered from that Tyson Chandler pounding, apparently Duncan and friends ran a train on her also
-Resign Haywood.
-Trade Butler's expiring contract before the deadline for a real shooting guard.
-Admit that Terry is done and bench him. Maybe a trade if someone is dumb enough to take it.
-Start Beaubois at SG and don't mess with his confidence by constantly benching him.
-Get a backup center for a good price.
Terry's contract will be hard to move. I think he's got two years left on his deal, and it expires in the same way that Damp's does, so it will be a valuable trade chip once it's up. He's not going anywhere.
Really, I think only Dirk, Kidd and Roddy have earned roster spots for next year. Everybody else is expendable. I doubt we're going to find a better center option through trade, draft or free agency than Haywood, so he'll have to be resigned. Of course, a replacement will have to be found for Damp if he doesn't boomerang back. Marion's contract will be hard to move, and he has on-court value considering he can still play very good defense, so he'll likely be back as well.
Kidd will turn 38 next year, Dirk turns 32 this summer. The last bullet in the chamber to win a le in the Dirk era is this summer with Dampier's contract. We need an elite two guard. We haven't had once since Michael Finley around 8 years ago. It's the one element our team is missing - a guy like Ginobili or Joe Johnson. I like our center tandem of Haywood-Damp considering Dwight Howard isn't available, and the Hawks probably won't trade us Al Horford. The only obvious upgrade is at the 2. Make Roddy the 6th Man/third guard in the rotation playing about 25-30 mpg.
In any event, the Mavs will have plenty of time for soul searching by this time next month.

This thread was long overdue...
-Offer damp + butler for one of top free agents in an S & T. That's this teams only hope
-Not a Haywood fan but resign him bc there is nothing else out there
-Bring back Gooden for backup PF/C
-Sign 3rd string center
- trade for Lebron
- wake up from dream
- realize Marion, Terry, Kidd, and Dirk are all worse
- hope you won the le the previous year (lol)
- If not hope to god you can milk Dirk for another 50 win season, 11x50 es!
11x50 is our goal...only team with most consecutive 50 win seasons without a ring![]()

What the ? Did Dirk get hurt or something?![]()
Unless an upgrade at the position is available, the Mavs should keep Butler as the starting 3. At this point in his career, Marion is nothing but a 20-25 minute (if that) role player off the bench on a team that can contend. Butler has been bad on offense largely cause he's tried to be the elite 2-guard Dallas needs when that's not the player he is. You move Butler to a role he can play and he won't cause so many problems.
Iggy obviously wouldn't be their first choice at shooting guard but he's their best available choice. In limited playoff time he's hit big shots and is also the athletic wing defender they need. If they had Iggy and kept Butler, that gives them a SG and SF who won't lose games down the stretch like Terry and Marion do.
Also, just a random, crazy thought, maybe Dallas should mix it up at center and try to bring Shaq in.
nope, Mav fans just being their high n low self. Next win a mavfan will make a championship thread. Mavfan is just as inconsistent as the team they root for.
Ain't no mountain high, Ain't no vally low
