"He tried to get into me so I started getting into him"![]()
I like how Manu didn't let Artest intimidate him.. lesser players would have lost their cool and their focus on the game. It was important for the rest of the Spurs to see this too. Just another example of leading by example.
"He tried to get into me so I started getting into him"![]()
good example
Artest is a very ordinary defender when he isn't allowed to hand check and doesn't get into his opponents heads..that doesn't work on veteran championship players like Manu..
Pop.
On Manu Ginobili not backing off when the game got a little bit physical - "Manu never backs off in his life. He's won NBA championships, and world championships, and Olympic championships. He's a veteran winner for a long long time so he's not going to back off from anything."
Artest better watch his ass. Manu is the Argentinian Assassin who won't be intimidated.
Manu is a ing badass. I love it.
Manu has actually struggled with Ron-Ron physicality in the past. However, Artest just isn't the defender that he used to. A good pick and he's out of the picture. I actually think this is the weakest link for this Lakers team: Artest is nowhere near as good as Ariza. And Ariza was pretty big for them last year in the playoffs.
That's why I made the Artest thread in the off-season and said it was great news..like you said, Artest can't fight around screens anymore..he's still a great 1 on 1 defender, but he can't run around anymore..
I hated Ariza on LA because he made them an extremely athletic team..he played the passing lanes, he finished with big dunks, he brought a lot of energy..
Artest is a superior player, but he favors the Spurs in the matchup, as well as a few other teams..he's extremely slow and not athletic, which favors the Spurs in that regard..while Ariza is a great athlete, which is something the Spurs have struggled against for years..
Ariza hit a lot of clutch threes in the PO last season too. Artest can shoot it but he can be a chucker too...
Ariza was also a long quick defender he was able to give parker and ginobili fits
Two things to add here. I would never trust Artest in a pressure packed playoff game. The guy is a ticking time bomb, just waiting to go off. And Most all Spurs fans know what we have in Manu, but is it possible we take it for granted just how great a player he is?
Artest is also liable to get you at least 1 or 2 more points at the free throw line due to technicals, frustration foul(s), or a combination thereof. Certainly more liable than Ariza.
Damn those shoes look fly on Manu.
artest should suck manu's balls
Can someone tell what kicks are Manu's on that photo?
Where were all you Ariza>Artest people at the beginning of the year?? I remember several threads debating this issue being the only one arguing pro-Ariza even when he was in that terrible shooting slump and all the faker fans were gloating and thinking they were unstoppable w/ Artest.
It's becoming clear now that if Artest isn't allowed to bully and intimidate opposing players he is almost worthless compared to Ariza. Lakers would have been so much better off to have a high flying 6'8" athlete like Ariza that could help them in so many more ways.
Wait until his twins are born.Infants can make a man ball up in a corner in fear.
They look like the Nike Blue Chip II TB.
but everywhere else I look says he wears Nike Hyperize.
Manu's ones both on the front and rear look different![]()
