MVP of the league this season, but the NBA won't allow him to win it because OKC doesn't pull enough TV ratings.

another reason why the MVP award in the NBA is bogus. just because a team finishes at the #1 seed doesn't mean they have the league's most valuable player.

You could argue that he's as high as #2 based on this season. The problem is that until we see how he performs in the playoffs, there will be detractors and that's a fair argument. So there will be some who might drop him down until he proves not only that he can score at the same rate in the playoffs but that he can also be a factor in helping his team win playoff games. You'll recall for several years, T-Mac was putting up crazy numbers in the regular season and in the playoffs but his team would never get out of the first round. And after a while it didn't matter what he did in the regular season and how great those numbers were and even how great his playoff stats were because he could never get past the first round of the playoffs.

Talent wise, you could definitely argue Durant is a top 5 player in the league based on the regular season. His play in the post season will go a long way in determining if people can legitimately put him at the same level as LeBron, Kobe, Wade... and even Dwight and Chris Paul for that matter.

One unbelievable regular season is a great start for the kid to becoming one of the best players in the league. It's going to take some more time and some playoff evidence to solidify his place there.

Based on the regular season, I'd say he's the second best player in the league. That could easily change over the next month depending what happens.

that's probably true but it has nothing to do with tv ratings.

This season he is number 2 no question.

    1. LeBron
    2. Durant

BTW this is about the most unoriginal idea for a thread anyone could ever come up with.
