This is the worst part..."After the killing, the boy's frightened mother gave him the keyboard back and the boy played computer games for several more hours until he fell asleep, the spokeswoman said."

Then again one could make a good argument on the grounds that he snapped.

Clearly the boy was provoked by being "grounded." He has no criminal record either. His father may have been asleep, but his mother was awake to give him the keyboard. No one in his/her right mind is going to use a sledgehammer, much less a 14 year old boy.

How is my defense sounding so far?

according to spurminator, darkreign and the likes, him being a minor and all, deserves nothing more than some after school detention and a grounding.

...... and this is why I advocate spanking.

Parents are a bunch of pushover pussies these days. I sometimes literally have to fight the urge to shake the out of some little ing brat at walmart who wont mind his parents.... nevermind the parents themselves.

If it wasnt for my dad spanking me, Id be in prison or worse, and I FIRMLY believe that.

Im not saying go ape on them, the punishment HAS to match the crime. Just stop being a little when it comes to your kids. A little spanking can go a LONG way.

    Seriously.....

Do people really ing believe its modern society that causes kids to act like this bull ?

Paddles need to be allowed back in the principles office.

Corporal punishment needs to be enforced.

You didnt see this going on 20 years ago and it absolutely doesnt have to do with modern society except for the fact that parents are either too ing young or are too ing lenient with their dumbass kids.

All you have to do is walk into a Walmart at ANY time of the day and watch how people react to their children. It's ing insane what they let these bas kids get away with! It's no wonder the Earth is going to !

The problem is you look and judge these ed up kids and parents but think yours are perfect angels!

Do us non-child people a favor..... buy a 2x4.... drill some holes in it to get rid of drag... and beat the out of that little demon you think of as an angel.

Sincerely awaiting some PC bull reply about how I dont know anything about kids even though I watch 3 of them, not my own, twice a week.

Their parents are AMAZED why the kids dont with my and sit still when I tell them to...

    It's not ing magic people.

(BTW, the 3 kids I watch at times are children of some of my best friends, they knew up front that I dont tolerate from brats, I have only had to spank any one of them maybe 3 times and parental concent was given. Never had to spank them since. In fact, they enjoy coming over and call me uncle and . I would die for them.)

Couldn't have ranted it better myself, phyzik.

Kids are outta control nowadays. I've never seen such blatant disrespect to parents...in PUBLIC no less. One can only imagine what these kids get away w/ in the privacy and comfort of their own home.

It's disgusting, and you can't help but blame the ones that raise 'em. Kids are gonna test their boundaries. It's just in one's nature. When the boundaries seemingly don't exist, and accordingly repercussions are nonexistent, how else should one be expected to behave?

Granted.... but are you going to sit there and pretend that children of that age, in that era, where just as violent as todays little brats?

If so, you are a moron.

Seriously.... Im 30 yrs old. Not old by any means... but old enough to remember getting the paddle in the 3rd grade back in 1986 or so from a principle without a parents consent.

If you never experienced that, you have no room to talk..... at all...

    My opinion?

    Children have lost their innocence.

They have been exposed to too much garbage, they know too much at a young age. Stuff that usually are only meant for adults.

When I was 14, I would not have even thought of the idea of that. I was too innocent in my mind, never exposed to that in movies or anything.

What you don't know, doesn't hurt you.

but when you expose children to KNOWLEDGE of how to do things, how to have sex, how to kill, how to use weapons and guns, through movies or games or internet, it really does make a difference.

I know it sounds like a cop out, "OH NO THE GAMEZ DID IT"

but really, they do influence. It makes that troubled kid go over the edge.

If you have a troubled kid who has no idea how to kill someone, he never kills anyone in his youth....

So he would've gone crazy later on in life, rather than earlier.

Look, the great majority of kids can play games with no ill effect. Are there some kids who are f'ing psychotic? Sure. Just because they're psychotic about playing games doesn't mean it's the game's fault. I mean, what if his Dad said he couldn't go out with a girl and he did the same thing? Then we would've just been talking about what a psycho he is.

Games can certainly be addictive, and fill a void for people. Just don't take away my games because of it. Let parents decide whether or not their children does... and obviously, lock the door to your room after you make that decision!

I agree nowadays kids are more brutal, there is less discipline and respect. Kids are more influental by all the violence and sex they see everyday on tv, games, music. That's something of the last 20 years and has a negative impact, but, these things and psychopats have always existed, maybe even worse back then.

The thing is also that, back then even if things happened, most of it wasnt even known, people hided it, people did not know. Today its all open, things come out, plus there is media everywere, so we are faced with these things more.

too many assumptions are being made in this thread. for all we know, the kid's parents could have been overbearing and even beat him (it is russia). computer games might of been his only escape from a reality in which he felt trapped. when his last mental stronghold was taken away, he snapped. i feel like too many details are being left out here. in the old days, this keyboard would be a deck of cards or a good book.

its a bunch of bull that 14 year old, testosterone enraged teenagers are any different than they were 100-200 years ago. the exposure to violence by children has been consistent for a long time. imagine witnessing petty theft and babies dying from swill milk in the cities, and in the countryside people being lynched. not to mention the unimaginable racial slurs and glorification of war. books were being written of which told these tales in an adventurous manner, and children were fascinated by them.

so, again, i call bull .
