good thread. I say if Bonner misses 3 straight open shots, sit his ass down till the next quarter
last year Booner disappeared in the Playoffs and Wednesday he looked like he started his playoff vacation early, so here's the thread to track the man's contribution to the team and the Playoff run.
i'm gonna go ahead and take note of every PT he gives up on defense. lets see if his +/- is positive or negative.
just to note, i hope he comes to play.

excellent
I'm hoping he finally has enough playoff experience to the point of him not nutting up when his number is called.
Bonner and Mason are both playing for their checks next season. If they are with the Spurs or not, a bad playoff will mean a significantly lower check next season.
I'm pretty sure Bonner will fail. As well as Mason.
Be sweet as if Bonner can perform, not holding out too much hope though.
i have more confidence in bonner than i do mason..
Assuming Bonner takes only 3 open shots a quarter and misses them all that is 12 shots a game.
If the Spurs are counting on Matt Bonner for 12 shots a game they are in big trouble.
If Bonner has a good shooting day he does space the floor out well for Tim down low and for RJ, Manu and TP to drive the lane. However if Bonner has an 0-4, 1-7 type day it will only make the Spurs work that much harder to get a "W".
We'll all be waiting for your biased numbers over official NBA statisticians.i'm gonna go ahead and take note of every PT he gives up on defense.
do you wanna do the same thing and compare?
I'll let the statisticians do their jobs.
I really think its a good thing he got to play in Dallas 3 days before playoffs, even tho he missed every shot, at least now he knows what to do and its like a practice run for him. He will be ready for sure.
looking in this season, there are many times Bonner showed up for the spurs in a big way.
except the statisticians do not publish how many points Bonner gives up to the specific player(s) he is guarding.
So STFU and let Creation88s excellent offer to take note of such go on uninterrupted.
+/- keeps track of all players' points on the court
That is what the team as a whole does while player is on the court.
Does not say what Bonner vs individual he is guarding does.
I'll put $20 that he will be a failure. To be effective he needs to be knocking down threes at a near 50% rate, considering what he ends up giving up on the other end in the form of soft defense and lack of rebounding. This could actually turn ugly if Pop tightens his big rotation and prioritizes Bonner minutes over Blair, especially after DeJuan's last outing...
Definitely a player to watch. In all honesty, I have higher hopes on Matt showing up than Mason. Matt actually tries hard, even if he's severely limited talent-wise.
His running Hook will really help IMO, he needs to do it more often. Looks ugly as but it goes in.
bonner is going to suck
that! The regular season is over!
I'm sure there's a metric somewhere that can be used instead of counting points and possessions on your fingers and toes
In order for us to get deep into the playoffs either Bonner or Mason are going to have to knock down the open look 3's.
I do like the fact that Bonner has been a bit more aggressive this season with faking the 3 and going to basket, but I am less than pleased with him on D.
then find it.
No, I think I'll let you and Fabbs play your games.
It will truly be a marvel if you can accurately discern between the times Bonner is actually being scored on as opposed to the system allowing a score since even the most experienced NBA minds have trouble figuring Pop's tactics - and especially when you'll have no past history to use concerning matchups until after Game 1, minimum (and no real feel on when/where the help is being situated until 3-4 games into the series).
I'm sure everyone on this forum just can't wait to see you calling a bunch of points scored on Bonner because he forced Dirk to the help or didn't alter a shot enough after some other Spur lets his man past him on D. Yeah, those will be things we all needed your "stat-keeping" AKA opining.
