Not a horrible first half, although I have the bad feeling that the Mavs have a few haymakers yet to come in the second half. They haven't played that well and are up five.
The Spurs can win this but they can't come out slowly in the second half. The next five minutes will tell the story. It'll either stay close or the Mavs could blow it open.
This is the thing though we've allowed Dallas to get this confidence over us. The feel like they own us. I am not talking about on the scoreboard, which they have the last few seasons, but they feel like they own us physically.
Spurs need more bruisers like Tony Massenburg who didn't take from anyone. A guy that just gives it out to the other team non stop when he is on the court.
Amazing how Dirk is acting like a tough guy here, but against other teams they don't do this .
Anyway, Dirk is HOT as .
Lol, Chris Webber: "4 rings, got mav fans" (rough translation)
happy to be within striking distance.....gotta stop turning the ball over, get to line and hit some 3s
As much as I hate to defend Mason, but he got switched out on that play and really did the best he could do and got a pretty soft foul called on him.
Good assessment HH.
Come on RC... More minutes for Damp![]()
Can't see the game. How does Hill look tonight? Healthy?
Mavs free throws and points off turnovers account for over half their score.
Limit those and we're still in business
True.
Mason,if you are going to make a foul then better be sure he can't shoot after the foul.
basically he just went "4 rings, got" on them
looking at the stats, were down because of TO's, the FT discrepency and mavs offensive rebounding. the mavs always seem to outrebound us on their end of the floor because their system is so different. long jumpshots lead to long rebounds, and the mavs are trained to gather long boards, especially j kidd, hes been doing that his whole career. the spurs want to fight down low for boards with less mobile bigs and then the mavs get more rebounds, and thus more shot attempts, and then even if they shoot a bad percentage, more points either by FGs or FTs. simple as that. spurs need to rebound and take care of the ball.
Basically the turnovers are killing the spurs - they are sloppy tonight. They have way too many TOs. With just half of those the Spurs could have been now 5 points or more ahead of the Mavs.
Also, Roger Mason - come on man... That was a foul, clear foul. His D is horrible.
RJ's D is horrible. D on Noringksi has been horrible - he's hitting from all angles, fadeaways like he's throwing cookies.. it's ridiculous.
Stop making those half-ass passes to nowhere. The Spurs don't have to reinvent the wheel today just play their brand of basketball.
BTW, without Manu the Spurs have no chance at all.
Blair needs to go ape on Mavs bigs. Get physical. Pull some thabeets. Haywood ain't .
In the first half...
Spurs: 3 FTA
Mavs: 13 FTA
Any wonder we're down at the half???![]()
One-third. One-third of the Mavs points off of turnovers. Dirk has played as well as he can and I don't see that stopping. We will see. Was it just me or did that first half fly by?
I can't believe they are shooting almost 57% and losing by 5. Incredible.
17 mother ing points for the Mavs off the 11 TOs
Wow
But Barkley was right though; we cant afford to make too many mistakes if we want to beat them
Yeah, I wonder what his username on Spurstalk is?
It really did look like a pot ready to boil over in terms of the mavs getting ready to bust it open
got nervous a few moments there
why can't blair take one of dirk's arms off?
