28 free throw attempts for Dallas, 6 free throw attempts for the Spurs. Interesting. Easily the worst officiated opening playoff round game so far.
Why do so many people think that quoting a disparity in FTs is "proof" of biased or poor officiating?
Hint: disparity in FTs, or close to even FTs, or more FTs for a team that usually shoots fewer, etc. is proof of exactly nothing, especially in one game.
If you want to whine about officiating, give me clock/players/play and be specific.
This idea that FTs are somehow supposed to be "even" or something is just absurd.
U know what bothers me about this game? J. Kidd who lost tons of speed in the last few years, is able to go for layups so easily against T.P. and Mason. They are making J. Kidd look like those glory days when he was a New Jersey Net. They need to step up and keep one guy on him. If they don't severe consequences will happen in this series. When he goes inside and Duncan has to help, Kidd will pass of to Damp or Haywood for an easy 2.
The officiating is favoring the Mavs tonight. But you guys were playing hack-a-damp, so the overall number of free throws is bloated.

34 free throws for Dallas compared to only 14 for the Spurs, most of which came when the game was out of reach and Dallas only wins by 6. I don't think this Dallas team is anything to worry about. When the game is fairly officiated and one team doesn't shoot 20 more free throws, the Spurs will dominate.

Spurs got some calls near the end to make things look even but the refs can't hide the bull they did

What bothers me is that the Spurs had more points in the paint than the Mavs, by about 10-14.....it was clear the Spurs were attacking the basket, and yet the FT disparity was +20 for the Mavs. Now of course 6 of those were gimmes by the Spurs. So it was actually a +14 FT disparity.
What also bothers me is some of the foul calls for Dirk, there was no contact. Dirk shoots that fade away the same as Hakeem, Jordan, and Kobe...yet none of those 3 ever got or get the calls Dirk does with the same exact shot. It boggles my mind.
But FTs aside....the Spurs missed a bunch of layups. They had a ton of turnovers and gave up a ton of points on turnovers. Yes Dirk was going off, but they gave Kidd and Terry wide open 3s all game long.
I am actually surprised the Spurs only lost by 6.
only few attempts were hack a damp. Dirk was on fire no denying it but he got a lot of minimal contact fouls called. he had more free throws than the spurs team had together and he hardly drived to the basket.

you are a dumbass, they only fouled him 3 times (6 FTs) on purpose. Mason was the only one to foul him and Mason went from 1 to 4 fouls. The rest of the free throws were in the flow of the game.
Dampier went 4-6 and so Pop stopped with the strategy.
