Sympathies for your loss, but here's to jacking the credit card companies.![]()
As executor I get to clean up the mess and she was BURIED in credit card debt. I couldn't believe it...and they kept approving her for new cards and raising her limits. I'm talking like 80K...Last year she called all of them and told them she was dying of cancer and wanted to work out a rate reduction and settlement. The ALL told her they weren't interested and jacked her rate to the legal max, like 30%. She kept paying the minimum balances on time and they kept raising her limits and she kept using them. She didn't work for over a year and would literally get cash out of one card to pay the minimum on another.
She was single with no heirs basically no estate and I now get the pleasure of calling them all and telling them they are well and truly ed.![]()

I opened one bill and in the "truth in lending" section it told her that if she kept paying the minimum balance and didn't use the card again it would take 38 years to pay off the balance...![]()
sorry to hear about your sister, CC.
hopfully they cant go after you........sorry to hear about your loss
Thanks. I'm sure there are worse ways to go. She was basically happy, not in pain, and had some GREAT drugs. As the cancer spread in her brain she got just funny as . Her long term memory was good almost to the end but short term was real flaky and she was goofy as . She loved to shop and wanted to go shopping every day. I would literally push her down the aisle in the wheelchair as she randomly piled in the shopping cart...she would buy it, I'd take her home and then hide the bags. Then I would take all the back the next day. I did this every day for a couple of weeks. I just tried not to pick on the same stores...![]()
Naaa, they can't do to me expect beg me to take care of her bills. Fat chance of that....of course Citibank probably isn't gonna be too crazy about the 8 cases of good wine two day before she died...after all, she didn't want us to run out of wine at her memorials...![]()
You have my condolences.
That's good of you, man. Sorry for your loss, but glad to hear she went well.
Yeah, CC.
It sounds like you made her final days "here a- ing-balls-to-tha-wall awesome" (I'll take any opportunity to use that phrase).
Sorry she HAD to go, but really happy to hear you made it one of a ride.
Sorry for the loss of your sister CosmicCowboy. You had some special time with her, hope it helps ease the pain.
I would be happy as to call those credit card companies and laugh in thier faces too. Sorry for ur loss.
Hats off to you for taking care of your sister during her final days. And you may want to get a hardline phone with a mute button so the poor schmuck at the CC company can't hear you laughing so hard you puke. But you have to roll "well and truly ed" into all conversations you have with those bloodsuckers.
So spill it, what wine did you get?
I got 4 cases of a delightful little Argentinian Malbec and the rest was a mixed bag of cabs, shiraz and merlot.
"Farewell, and thanks for all the wine, Citi!"
Well-played, madame!![]()
Which Malbec? I've always been partial to Terrazas (Tasty and inexpensive).
Bingo. '06 reserve.
Well played CC. I'm sure your sister approved.
well played, cowboy. good luck with the transition.
i dont see the humor
Hopefully those credit card companies don't have your personal information. They will bug the out of you if they do.
CC,
I know you may have mentioned this in a previous thread, but how old was your sister?
I seem to hear more and more stories of people dying at realtively young ages.
Sorry to hear about your sister, CC, but I know you made her last days happy!
Sorry about your loss, CC. That's hilarious about the credit card vultures getting screwed over due to their own stupidity and greed though. That shopping story is awesome too. You always gotta find something to laugh about when tragedy strikes. Once again, I'm sorry for your loss, but it sounds like you made the absolute best out of a bad situation.![]()
