Mavericks' Mark Cuban says respectfully: 'I hate the Spurs'
Eddie Sefko
Mark Cuban held court after practice today and he touched on a lot of subjects that we'll visit over the next few hours on the blog.
One thing he reiterated was that "I hate the Spurs.''
But it's a respectful hate, he said, because the two teams play basketball the right way.
"Every possession just feels like it's a punch in a heavyweight fight,'' Cuban said. "It doesn't feel like a first-round of the playoffs. It feels like the conference finals, like we're playing to get to the Finals. That shows the respect we have for each other.''
I am sure he says it many different ways. All you have to do is read between the eyeliner.
just like everyone from the mavs and the fan base.
Cuban will do whatever it takes to win...I can respect that.
Right back at ya, Mark.
WTF is Cuban talking about
Spurs didn't play WCF basketball in game 1, I can tell you that
Where the is Cuban Must Go when we really need him?
Cuban should go into pro wrestling and give Vince McMahon a run for his money.
Mavericks' Cuban: 'I hate the Spurs'
By Jeff Caplan

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said Tuesday that his team's rivalry with the San Antonio Spurs is as acrimonious as ever.
"No, I mean I hate the Spurs. I have a hard time being civil to [Spurs owner] Peter Holt at the board of governors meetings and he has a hard time being civil to me even though we both like each other. It's what it represents," Cuban said one day prior to Game 2 of the heated first-round NBA playoff series between the Texas rivals. "We can both be 0-80 and if those last two games are Spurs-Mavs, it's going to be like a playoff game because we dislike each other that much."
The teams are locked in their third playoff series of the past five seasons and the fifth overall in the Tim Duncan-Dirk Nowitzki era.
The Spurs held the upper hand in the first two series in 2001 and 2003, but the Mavs won the past two, taking the 2006 second-round series en route to the franchise's only NBA Finals appearance. Dallas also won last season's first-round series, 4-1.
The Spurs, of course, can always taunt Cuban with their four NBA championships.
Cuban, who watched the Mavs practice Tuesday at American Airlines Center, went on to say that although hate persists between the two franchises, there is also healthy respect.
"Both teams play basketball the right way, both really have a lot of respect for the other side," Cuban said. "The beauty of the first game and every game we play them is every possession counts. There's not like, 'OK, we'll put in the second unit.'
"Well, I take that back -- unless Pop says he's going for the best record and then rests everybody. But beyond that, every possession just feels like it's a punch in a heavyweight le fight. This doesn't feel like the first round of the playoffs, I guess is what I'm saying."
Really man? that's just ignorant. I'm not too fond of Cuban myself but to say he does everything to sell tickets and not win is plain wrong. The Mavs have only turned a profit only 1 year under him, the rest came out of his own pocket. Dude has spent millions making the Mavs relavent again and they have posted 10 50+ win seasons, second only to to Spurs.
Dang, dude, some of us have to work.
You're arguing he doesn't need the money -- perhaps you're right. I'm arguing that he wants to sell as many tickets as possible precisely because he spends so much money.
Exactly...there is something very wrong about that guy....and he's an asshole.
mavs and their "we beat the spurs championships"
To the spurs, there is a little rivalty, but they know this is nothing but round 1 of a super long journey to the championship

Glad you're still out there, man.![]()
I hope Cuban never wins any type of championship.
