no way. the mavs always get comfortable, which leads to a stomping.
always.
Capers is there. Caper as a word can mean a crime (especially a robbery), to leap and play, or a small corn sized berry that is most commonly used in Meditteranean cuisine. And all three point pretty clearly to another screw job for the Spurs. The first definition shows a connection pretty clearly: the Spurs will be robbed by the refs. The second is an indication of the style of play that the refs will favor. Leap = jump, as in jumpshot, as in what the Mavs shoot a lot of. And finally, what else comes out of the Meditteranean? Oh yeah, organized crime families that stands to make a lot of money by fixing the outcomes of sporting events.
Stern might as well put up a big neon sign that says, "Spurs are ed."
but....if the mavs are expected to win....wouldn't the "caper" be the opposite?
See, that's exactly what they want us to think.
Callahan means "small, belligerent one," so obviously this can only benefit Mark Cuban...
and a "mauer" is the outer wall of of a fortified town, which means that the Mavs home court will be defended by the refs tonight.
mauer looks like one sleezy mofo
If the Spurs do like they did in game one and don't play well enough to keep officiating from being a factor, they deserve to get screwed by the refs.
Mauer's crew allowed 90+ combined FTs their last game out. We've all been warned.
Could be a snails passed game.![]()
When Little Danny Crawford shows up in San Antonio to ref the game you can BET THE FARM on the Spurs.
Not this game, if they know what we know about both teams knowing the last game was about turnovers then they know they can't get comfortable.
If they won by 15 off of quality execution on their part instead of turnovers/freethrows given to them, I could see Dallas getting lazy but NOT tonight. Tonight's game should be a slug fest.
I hope no one takes this bait...
Spurs will win tonight !

The home team won 68% of the games Callahan officiated this season, #3 only behind Salvatore and Joe Forte..the home team had a +6.3 point differential with Callahan officiating, by far the highest of any ref in the NBA this season..he called the road teams for 2% more calls in the games, which is above average in home bias, according to the stats(which could be misleading of course)..
The other 2 refs also called a lot more fouls against the road team, Mauer having one of the highest disparities of all refs this season..
Bad news for the Spurs, since the crew in game 1 was very home-biased as well..
Where is Steve Javie when you need him on the road?
Well, we can just hope for the best.![]()
I hope there aren't 50 FT attempts, but if there are, please be consistent. I know that's a re ed plea, but I just want consistency in officiating in every game I tune in to, and we rarely get it.
The Mavs get favorable calls pretty consistently, especially at home.
I would say in looking at that crew, they aren't really that whistle happy. Mauer usually lets 'em play with the exception of a few head-scratchers.
I think it's sad that the NBA has gotten to the point where different teams actually beg to get (and avoid) certain refs due to blatant favoritism/bias.
I mean, it's true, it's obvious. Spurs had help from tim donaghy, but if you think referee corruption ended with him, you're blind.
The number of calls that can "go either way" in this league are often sufficient to cover the point differential between teams.
Mauer made it out of Portland alive?![]()
