great defense and effort by dice tonight. like i said, i was hoping dice was going thru a horry like effect where he goes on vacation during the regular season and shows up for the playoffs. lets hope he continues his great play
McDyess was big in a lot of phases. Rebounding, scoring, hustle plays, offensive rebounds, defense. And RJ played well also.

But I thought he was old and done?
Agreed.
Dice was awesome, but you also have to applaud the effort of Jefferson tonight.
hes the best shot we have v dirk he was outstanding on the glass and really all around
His patient defense on Dirk was / may come be instrumental in these games. He is playoff tested and not nearly as lost as the first half of the season. Despite looking lost, he actually showed signs of good D on Nowitzki in the beginning of the regular season. Back in November Dirk shot 9-27 in a game that McDyess logged 29 minutes 45 seconds and primarily covered Dirk. That is what the Spurs should aim for - McDyess around 30 MPG.
Dice was huge tipping balls keeping them in play and playing calmly during that huge Mav run. Jefferson's explosion in the first half was more spectacular and quite frankly more shocking given his performance in game 1.
Major props to Dice, he worked his ass off out there and all the hustling he did blew me away.![]()
Amazing night from him!!
Propssss!!!!!!!
Great game by Dice just hope he keeps it up in SA.
mcdyess defense was great today except that rotation 3 in the corner for terry was dumb of him but hes been on dirk this series and he did a great job today of not falling for dirks jump fakes and mcdyess had a hand in his face everytime and he was jumping straight up to block the shot except jumping into dirk like last game great game for dice
No he didn't. He's got 15 more wins to contribute to this season.![]()
props to dice...
if dice had played 10 more minutes and bonner--10 less--in game 1---
spurs would be up 2-0
The jumper still isn't as automatic as I remember it, but we're now finally, at long last seeing the McDyess I remember seeing with the Pistons. His stout post defense and rebounding (particularly offensive) was huge.
It's becoming more and more apparent that, while he may have declined somewhat from last season (more likely is he was just playing above his head in the second half of last season), he was also pacing himself throughout the season. He admitted that playing is hard on his body at this point. As frustrating as he was a lot of games, him pacing himself was probably necessary, so that he could play at the level he's currently playing at.
Dice is a grizzled veteran and has earned the respect of the refs. He can get away playing Dirk tighter than Blair or Bonner. He has a crucial role to play in the coming games and I think his juices are just starting to flow now that the POs have begun ala Horry.
I am so on board the Dice Train. The Horry comparisons are warranted but there's something I find uncannily familiar about his play:
All the hustle plays and movement without the ball,
the way he works hard at things that don't show up in the stat box.
It was the tipout late in the 4th when it struck me...
This rugged yeoman is filling the void Fabricio Oberto left.
Besides defense it seems his priorities are extending offensive possessions and being in the right place at the right time. Sure, there are kinks to work out but he seems well on his way.
I agree with the Horry/McDyess comparison as of playoff performance right now. I just hope Dice doesn't start jackin up threes.![]()
This has got me all misty eyed...
I thought he played great. This is the McDyess I know and love.
Great to see Dice get 30 minutes, He deserved more action in game 1 also.
Maybe his effort was only picked up during watching the replay.
Keep that up!
We were all a bit surprised with the Haislip signing and the thinking at the time was he was going to be the answer to Dirk and other mobile bigs. Unfortunately that experiment didn't bear fruit and perhaps in Pop's mind a healthy Dice could suffice.
