Impossible thought it may be, I would take him in a heartbeat if he took the MLE. Much as Spurs fan likes to hate on the guy and talk about him, Dirk Nowitzki is one of a player.
For his price, pass.

Dirk to the spurs would be about 10 times more lopsided than gasol to the lakers.

the guy that started this thread must contemplate things like; should I eat today, should I take the next breath, is it a good idea not to play in traffic..... Aside from the money, and being a raging lunatic, WHY would you not want dirk on this team.
If we can afford him, absolutely.
We understand that there is no way Dirk will take the MLE but stranger things have happened in search for a ring i.e. Payton & Malone taking huge pay cuts to lose with Lakers.
You may not realise that realistically speaking, Cuban will never trade with us - even if there is option for sign-and-trade. As such, the only way is for Dirk to be a free agent. We are over the cap and only able to use MLE and hence, the obsession with MLE.
If we are under the cap and are able to fork out a max contract, I will say give it to LeBron or Bosh easily. The thing is we don't have that luxury.
Not taking our cap situation into account, I will say no to Dirk if we have Bosh. Dirk is a great offensive player but he is 31 already. We need younger players here as we move to transit to rebuilding.
