If the Lakers were to lose the series against the Thunder, would you consider it to be a greater upset than the Warriors/Mavs series considering the Lakers are the defending NBA Champs?

I'd like to see Lakers falling here but I don't see it happening in any cerebral sense. We won this game tonight with up to 42 points collected from the line, without which we would probably have lost the game.

the Thunder have a top 5 player in Kevin Durant, who did the warriors have like that? Thunder are a better team than that Warrior team
and the Mavericks that year won a ton of games, whereas the Lakers are known to be struggling even in the regular season and only won 50 something games.
plus chemistry issues with Bryant ball hogging, and his "never ending injured finger", its not the same Laker team.

Since when a >50 wins team beating a 57 wins team is such a huge upset? Especially considering the underdog has some serious favourable matchups.

Agreed..because at least Ariza could hit the open 3..or any jumpshot...and throw down some nasty dunks..Artest looks like he has cement in his shoes..and his shooting is awful.
Biggest Upsets in NBA history:
1 - 1969 Finals - It shouldn't be considered an upset, but so many people were expecting LA to win this (and so convinced of that) that it became one.
2 - Golden State def. Dallas - One of the best and most talented teams in the history of the game vs. a 0.500 team already over-achieving.
3 - Denver over Seattle - The Sonics were possibly the best team in the NBA that season. The Nuggets were also considered too inexperienced to win (and they didn't have much talent) - their best veteran was probably Reggie Williams.
4 - The Nets over Philly in 84 - The 76ers were the champions and their talent gap relatively to the Nets (whose best player was... I don't know... maybe Darryll Dawkins or a young Buck Williams) was way larger than the talent gap between LA and OKC this year.
5 - Blazers over Philly for their championship. Nobody saw that coming especially after the 78ers win the first two games. It was Bill Walton and a bunch of role-players versus a 4/5 All-Star level players.
