Even when Barea turns the corner on him, he can still block JJ's shot from behind as he's shown in the past. He tried pulling the chair out on Barea during the 2nd quarter and failed, that's not how George plays defense.
His defense has really regressed this season, which makes sense with the added offensive responsibility, but I'd still like to see more..last year he made a living with contesting from behind, especially against Barea, like you said..he also had great games doing that against guys like Iverson and Nash as well..

Hill is usually good at defending guys of this size, his length usually bothers them..

He should have no problems defending Barea IMO..

Hopefully it's all p&r in the 2nd half, at least until Duncan gets going with some easy layups..

Hopefully they remember to rotate to the shooters and that Jason Kidd only shoots 3s..I've been saying that since the FIRST game vs. the Mavs in November, yet they're still making these mistakes in ing April..it's not difficult to comprehend..
I've been saying all series to stop giving the Mavs 3 after 3 after 3. The Mavs live off those threes and they hit them when the pressure is off. When they have nothing to lose it's easier for them and we keep giving them 3s.

If the Spurs play at this level, they won't win another game this series. Especially if there is something wrong with Tim.

11 points is not insurmountable. It is the way the 11 point lead was built that is the problem. Spurs have to have a very dramatic shift in their play in the 2nd half and beyond if they want to have a shot.

I'm really disappointed in Bonner, I was hoping last year's playoffs were an aberration and he'd be able to provide some help. I don't want him back next year if this is what we can expect from him.

They came out a little too comfortable. They lost a bit of the edge and appropriate fear they had before winning Games 2 and 3, but that's somewhat expected; as is the Mavs' sense of desperation/urgency.

I thought Pop really dropped the ball going with Bogans, Blair and Bonner for a good stretch ther. The numbers will tell you it was a positive on the scoreboard but they reall only tread water and didn't take advantage of the opportunity to jump on the Mavs. They should have been able to get a bit of a cushion there.

I suppose the Spurs were probably due for a poor offensive outing, both individually and the team as a whole, but they're going to have to find a way to grind this out; I don't care if I said they'd lose this game and win Game 5, you don't wanna have to win in Dallas.

The Mavs are killing on the boards (up 11 overall and 5 offensively) and they have a +10 in free-throws attempted (4 to 14), so getting that under control would go a long way to getting the desired result.

Let's go, boys. Time to nut up.
It's all about effort, the mavs came out ready to lose, and we let them know they could stick around and make it a series.

Probably with Pop resting the bigs is that he doesn't do it the same way he rests his perimeter players. He bridges the gap between guard-small forward subs with one or two subs early, but when it comes to the bigs he does it with a series of players almost (i.e. subbing both Tim AND Dice for Bonner and Blair). He needs to find a way to develop a system so the subbing is more balanced on the frontcourt.

I didn't like Bonner the first time I saw him. I am amazed anyone could even think last season was an aberration. That is what I thought he'd do - choke.

It's up to him to have some heart and prove us wrong.

I'm hoping he kicks it into gear and gets back into shutdown defensive George because he's our best shot along the perimeter.

Yep, when the Mavs made their run last game..I agree..he's had a few moments in this series where he left McDyess on the bench for too long..

Unfortunately, the Big Three have been due for an off game. Unfortunately, it seems to be hitting Manu and Tim at the same time.

One of the other will need to step it up in this second half, because Parker can't carry the load by himself.

People need to chill out. The panic and frustration you people show is pathetic. Ugly first half. Dice needs to play smarter, Duncan needs to play with better positioning, Ginobli is creating his offense is a bit off. And we are stuck with bonner, his play is on par but i agree he has to drop a bucket

Strange coaching by Pop, but it's not really his fault Tim is having a nightmare of a game so far.

The big three have been good in every single game so far in this series, so maybe something like that was due.

The Spurs still got a chance if they rebound the ball better and not let Kidd and Barea beat them. Our offense has been to static, as well. Our guards will have to drive to the basket more often.

Since when have the Spurs bought back a choker? Hedo was sent packing, mason Jr. will be sent packing. I seriously doubt Bonner will be kept, unless he turns it around dramatically. He can do it, but does he have the guts to do it. The pressure must be putting him off. YOU GOTTA NUT UP BONNER. SHOOT with ing confidence.
