This is the best win the Spurs have had in years IMO, no doubt about it..

-Down double digits in the 1st half..
-Playing with no energy at all for the entire 1st half..
-Tim Duncan 1-9 from the field..
-Manu Ginobili 4-16 from the field..
    -Tony Parker with 5 turnovers..
-Playing against the #2 seed, a team that has had the Spurs' number..

Could anybody have imagined the Spurs winning a game like this in these past few seasons?..we've had to deal with soft-ass teams, having to rely on soft players like Bonner, bad/old players like Mason, Finley, Vaughn and Udoka..

The last time the Spurs looked this good was against Phoenix in 2008, a favorable matchup against a team that the Spurs own..this is the best the Spurs have looked since 2007 IMO..

The defense won this game..the role players stepped up when the big 3 didn't play well..the Spurs overcame a double-digit lead and didn't give up, which is something you couldn't say about the last few versions of the Spurs..

This is the Spurs we've been missing for years..welcome back..keep it up..

    Great post Harlem.

I can't believe we won this won with those numbers from the big 3. Hill, RJ, Dice and Blair did a great job stepping up and saving the day.

Defense in the 3rd quarter made me HAPPY

Spurs have been the hottest most complete team since the all star break. It's unfortunate for the rest of the west this year. Spurs Cavs finals anyone??

At one point the Spurs were down big in rebounding but were able to narrow the gap in the second half. Great hustle.

This was a stunning win. I can't believe with how bad the first half was, combined with poor coaching in that half that the Spurs won. When you look at the box score, it is still hard to figure out.

the intensity was very high caliber. The fact that the Spurs overcame a bad 1st half, an intensely fought game, bad games for our stars, to come out and hold the Mavs to 11 pts in that decisive 3rd qtr is high caliber playoff basketball. We just gotta keep growing and meeting every challenge head on like this game today. and like I've said all year if our big 3 is healthy and on thier game I like our chances. Now I'm looking at a supporting cast that is becoming a contributor.

The same Suns that are 2-2 with a team led by a guy who had knee surgery a week ago? Before Roy got hurt and the seeds were determined I would have taken anyone playing the Suns. Looks like even after Roy got hurt I could still make that bet.

This was quite frankly all that you said it was and more. I mean how the did they win this game? Its so damn amazing.

The heart and perseverance shown by this team in this series is phenomenal. They're peaking now. Its amazing.

They're peaking, but I'm a little concerned about Manu. I know Duncan will be fine after he gets a few days rest.

The defense in the second half was as good as it's been in a long time. Great to see that the Spurs are still able to grind out a win like that, even if Tim and Manu combine for 5-25 and Tony makes some stupid mistakes (leaving Terry open twice in the fourth).

Hill was simply amazing, and Blair has now officially arrived as a player who can contribute in the Playoffs. Dice was very good again; he is quietly having a big series.

Thank God Pop realized in time that going with Bogans and Bonner was a mistake.

A huge, huge win, and yeah, the last three games have been our biggest wins in years.

What has astounded me is the way the D has lifted about 3 gears in the playoffs. All year this team had problems with consistency on the defensive end, and seemed to lack that overdrive switch they have had for most of the past decade which has enabled them to string together 5+ stops in a row and simply stop the other team scoring for long stretches. Somehow, and from somewhere, they have inexplicably found that again. WTF??? I mean, where did that come from? I don't think anyone saw that coming.

    Wow.

The spurs in 07 had a good defensive unit. This is almost 05 level D they are playing....

Yep. Imagine the damage Finley would have done in a game like this.

Our young players saved our asses tonight. That's a wonder to behold.

George Hill showed new dimensions of leadership tonight. He didn't just hit shots, he led us back from the brink of oblivion in the 3rd. It was like, "I got this, don't worry."
We haven't had a player step up like that since when?
Finley, Bonner, Mason, etc, simply aren't capable of that kind of this kind of gutty, clutch play.

    I agree..

Where did this defense come from?..

We're seeing SHARP rotations, guys flying to deny Dirk the ball and force them to swing it to the guy on the other side of the floor..when that happens, another defender flying towards that guy..everybody is everywhere..yes, there are missed rotations, but you can't be perfect..

The regular season Spurs showed NONE of this..it was extremely rare..that team couldn't get a stop in transition, constantly missed rotations and got killed in the paint..

I don't know how a team can all of a sudden just click out of nowhere and play defense like this..

Let's just call it the Finley effect..
