I give the Spurs props. They have wanted to win way more than the Mavs and that's been the difference. They have confidence and a fire in them. However, this is the first round. I mean it's good to get the 2nd round but Spurs fans should realize that the 2nd round isn't the championship. You don't want to wind up like the bandwagon Warriors fans in 2007. They acted like the Warriors had just won the NBA championship and then they were ass raped by the Jazz in 5 games in the 2nd round. The Spurs have been great but this is only the first round. Enjoy it now but then move on. Getting to the 2nd round shouldn't be a big deal to Spurs fans in my opinion. Just sayin'.

I agree. The Spurs were in the exact same situation in the 2006 series. Down 3-1, went back home and won, and put all the pressure on Dallas and stole Game 6 and levelled it at 3-3. Then anything can happen in a Game 7.

Series aint over. When it comes to the Mavs against the Spurs, I wont be comfortable until the Spurs win 4.

I'm really afraid of the Suns. We don't have anyone that can break Nash down on offense.

I can't predict the future but I would say it's probably 50/50 that the Spurs will get to the Finals this year. I would predict a loss for them if they wind up playing the Magic or Cavs in the Finals this year. I have no idea if the Spurs will get ass raped by the Suns or Blazers. I would think that the Suns would give the Spurs more of a challenge in the 2nd round than the Blazers would. Just my opinion. The playoffs in the West have been somewhat crazy so far. Two higher seeds are on the verge of going home and the other two series are going to go to at least 6 games. It's very possible that all of the lower seeds could make it to the 2nd round in the West. Personally, I would love to see that. It would be cool to see all lower seeds in the 2nd round in the West.

In 2006, it was a big deal when the Mavs beat the Spurs because the Mavs finally beat their arch rival in the playoffs. It was something to celebrate. And for a long time, getting to the 2nd round was an accomplishment for the Mavs given their history. What I was trying to point out by making the thread was that Spurs fans shouldn't be making this a big deal because they are use to seeing their team win championships. I guess now, you could say getting to the 2nd round is an accomplishment for the Mavs given their recent playoff crapouts.

Why the should the Spurs fear a team they have completely f'd in the a three times in the playoffs, including when Nash was at his all time best? There's not more ownage in playoff history than that of the Spurs' of the Suns.

You're trying to tell us when to celebrate? We have some experience in that matter. We know that beating the Mavs is simply part of the job they Spurs have to do, but god damn if you ing dip Mavs fans don't make it a little bit sweeter than any other first round win.

That's encouraging you even give us 50% odds on winning the ring, but understand that the reaction to tonight's win has nothing to do with our believing we're in striking-distance of the Larry yet and everything to do with the behavior of the Mavs fan base this past year.

Of course we haven't won anything (we haven't even won the series, for god's sake), but after a year of twits bragging about beating our hobbled squad last year, it is immensely satisfying to beat the Mavs tonight, and to have you down 3-1.

My odds about the Spurs that I had posted earlier in this thread were for them to get to the Finals. I still think it's 50/50 for them to get to the Finals. I would give them between 30-40 percent chance of winning the championship this year. I have my reasons. The Cavs and the Magic are beasts in the East. Unless something crazy happens, one of those will be in the Finals this year representing the East. The Spurs would not have have homecourt advantage in the Finals if they play the Cavs or Magic. The Spurs have always had homecourt advantage every time they won the NBA Finals. It would be interesting to see how that affects them. Homecourt advantage is important in the Finals because it's 2-3-2. And I'm pretty sure the Spurs have historically had an amazing home record in the Finals. Without the homecourt advantage, they will play fewer games at home. Another reason why the Spurs would be in trouble in the Finals is that the Cavs and Magic are better teams on paper than the Spurs are.
Not a lot of Mavs fans can give props to the Spurs. I can because I can respect winners as long as they aren't y and arrogant like the Lakers and Celtics. I may not like the Spurs but I respect them because they're winners and put together a nice string of championships in the last decade.
