Lets just be honest...this is too much heartbreak to endure in one city. I honestly feel sorry for the dude. Great guy, great player, humiliating/crushing defeat after defeat after defeat. I'd like to see him win an NBA championship one day.

Usually I'd agree. But even Dirk himself admitted the window is slowly closing. Maybe he would take less money for a better chance at a le.
This is his last chance to get a huge contract. Next year's lockout is likely going to kill salaries if the NBAPA's incompetence in past negotiations holds true. I don't think he'll leave Dallas, but he'd be crazy to not opt out and get a nice long deal grandfathered in when the new CBA goes into effect.
