    Who guards:

    - Nash
    - JRich

    Hill on Nash, Parker on Richardson, Manu on Hill?
    Isn't it obvious?

    Hill --> Nash
    Manu --> JRich
    Jefferson ---> Hill

    Blair's presence on offense will create easy shots for the Spurs, and Blair's presence on defense will create easy shots for the Suns. Unlike Dallas the Suns have athleticism up front to exploit Blair's defense.

    you also ed about how the Spurs were afraid of playing the Mavs, and it was the worst possible matchup possible.

    Damn you're such a pussy!
    It was the worst match up. I never said they could not win. Just because a fan does not say his team will pwn the world, does not mean that they are not a fan or are scared. It is about being objective and calling it like you see it.

    Since Spurfan will flip out if I don't have this pre-qualifier: I think the Spurs will win the series

    With that said, anyone who thinks this is a lock for the Spurs and that they'll have no problems is re ed. First off, it's not like the 2007 series was an easy win for them. Diaw and Amare being re ed is the one thing that stopped the Suns from having all the momentum after stealing game 4. Even with Amare and Diaw out the Spurs needed a come from behind victory to win game 5 when Phoenix was up the entire game. I'm not saying SA didn't deserve the win, but it's moronic to act like that was an easily won series for them. Second, to act like previous matchups are a huge gauge is moronic. Both teams have had pretty significant roster turnovers since 2007. The team was a mess in 2008 so I don't mention it, if the Suns somehow beat the Spurs, they woulda lost to the Hornets in the next round.

    They shot terrible from 3 against the Mavs. It does not bode well against the Suns.

    Considering the Mavs' inability to attack the basket, I'd say it was an ideal match-up. It was pretty obvious SA wasn't afraid of Dallas after the way they tanked the final game of the season in order to play them.

    Dallas scared me much more than the Suns. The Spurs come out and take care of business like they did against Dallas and this series might not go 6.

    However, if Spurs don't match the Suns' intensity for 48 minutes, the Suns could run away with the series. It will be tough, but the Mavs series should have the Spurs geared up for war.

    So saying the Spurs matched up terribly against the Mavs and shot poorly from 3 against the Mavs means I am scared of the Suns?

    Damn, first Mavs, then Suns, and potentially Lakers if we carry on... this WC run is like a ing compilation of greatest rivalries for the spurs.
    not to sound condescending ..beacuse you are right from the spurs persepctive ...but Lakers and spurs are not "true" rivals

    TBH from the Lakerside I do not consider the Spurs rivals and definitely not our "fiercest" rivals that is only the Celts and I also dislike Portland Sac and Utah (though DWILL maybe my currrent favorite non Laker)

    i only started to dislike the spurs when I moved to SA and started lurking on this site and saw and heard all the hate SPURS fan has for the Lakers ...

    I respect the Spurs especially manu and duncan but consider them rivals? Nah. We have owned the spurs in most playoffs even when they have beaten us in the regular season ...

    in my years of watching basketball the spurs have beaten us maybe once IIRC ...that is not a rivalry. That is almost like Spurs saying suns are their biggest rival ...

    Spurs and lakers are brought together because in the past decade they traded le runs ...but really we "own" the spurs much like the Spurs "own" th Suns ....

    If Spurs beat us THIS year maybe I will feel differently

    Going into the series, Mavs were the worst match up outside of LA. They had home court, a couple of bigs, plenty of scoring and had beaten the Spurs the last two times they faced each other in the playoffs.

    Spurs did win, but it was not easy and that does not mean that the Mavs were not the toughest match up outside of LA. Toughest match up does not mean unbeatable.

    You said terrible, not toughest.

    Terrible implies something much different than toughest. Tim had the advantage on all of the Mavs bigs save Dirk, even with mediocre showings, for example - a tough matchup, but not terrible considering we hold the advantage.

    Dyess actually played Dirk as well as anyone, so if you consider that matchup terrible, what do you consider "great"?

    All the talk of "Team A owning team B" makes no sense. Perhaps players from team A own players from team B, but it's not like there's some mythical force that guides the Lakers over the Spurs regardless of who is on each team or some basketball fairy that ensures the Spurs will beat the Suns no matter who is on either team. If the Suns crept in as the 8 seed in 2009, the fact Steve Nash was able to dominate Smush Parker wouldn't matter. The fact Phoenix has never beaten Duncan in a playoff series is pretty relevant, but to act like this will unfold exactly like 2007 when the Spurs were an elite defensive team and Bowen was guarding Nash is pretty stupid.

    Spurs fans get so y. When they win, they act like nothing could have gone differently. Mavs were/are a tough/terrible match up.

    Denver is a great match up. Utah is a great match up.
