    madonna, jolie, and now bullock.
so what gives? they obviously saw the children before they adopted them. they specifically chose a black baby over a white or hispanic or asian or indian baby.

why is that? is it to draw attention? is it to somehow make up for the "white guilt" they feel for slavery hundreds of years ago? Are they attempting to make up for what their dead ancestors did?
    what gives?

Honestly? There are a lot more black and hispanic and mixed race babies available for adoption. The waiting lists for caucasion babies can be years long.

If we end up going the adoption route, we'll probably adopt black or mixed race child.

Bullock adopted a black baby? Maybe he'll go to Mississippi State University for a football scholarship.

Black and male babies are the least likely to be adopted I believe.

i think it speaks more to Bullock's not being picky in the process and letting the baby that is meant to be hers come to her.

i think i have to respect that more than those that say they want to adopt, but stipulate it has to be a blond haired and blue eyed new born and wonder why it takes so long to get a child placed in their care...

that along with the fact that she has been taking care of this child for months and kept it hush hush for so long mean she should get benefit of the doubt...

sons when you really think about it this could be a very solid investment. adopt 2 or 3 black male babies and train them to be athletes from the get go. teach them to play every single sport and I guarantee you at least one of them will be successful and your investment should pay off when he goes pro. God bless

kinda like when Mr. Burns picked a puppy from the litter because it could stand on its hind legs.

I think I'll call this one Rory Calhoun. Excellent.

Odds of a person being murdered 1/18,000
Odds of a person becoming a professional athlete 1/22,000

So, if she adopted 22,000 she might get one pro athlete out of the bunch. Not a very good investment.

son you also have to consider that 22,000 number is not accurate because it counts white people who make up the majority of this country. The odds of a black male becoming a pro athlete is probably more like 1/1,000 .... white male more like 1/1,000,000

    I agree.

Adoption is a long process. It took Sandra and Jesse 4 years to finish the process and I wouldn't doubt if the process isn't officially finalized and part of why she is moving to New Orleans.

Some parents are picky...I want a blonde baby with blue eyes with no medical conditions. That's when they run off to Russia or Germany or some random Eastern European country to adopt a baby.

Even when a parent isn't picky it can be a lengthy process if you happen to be a bit quirky (they pick their nose or they use too much toilet paper) and the adoption agency doesn't like the way your paperwork reads. The adoption agency (or whoever the family gets the baby from) works for the child. They want the best for the child. If the person(s) reading the potential parents paperwork sees even one thing wrong with a forever home they're going to pick someone else, even if they are not a celeb.

With Jesse's addiction background I wouldn't doubt if that may have played a part in why it took them so long in finding a baby.

    Just sayin'.

I heard adoption itself is pretty expensive...like in the amount of at least 5 figures.

Depends on the route you go. If you foster to adopt, not really. But you are unlikely to get an infant, and very likely to have a child from a broken home who may or may not have health or behavioral problems. And it is certainly no guarantee of being able to adopt, as the primary goal of fostering is to reunite the family. It's a hard, thankless job that is so necessary and can be utterly heartbreaking.

Beyond that, it depends on if you go through an agency and which agency and whether or not you cover birthmother expenses, etc.

But yes, to adopt an infant through an agency is often in the tens of thousands of dollars and a very lengthy process, which is why we are not currently pursuing it.
