Maybe a couple of seasons ago. But not anymore.
Dude is done. All he wants to do these days is try to show up in the post season after ambling through the regular one.
I wonder if Shaq is gonna demand a big contract. He's worth nothing more than 2 million at this point.
No thank you. Even if he wasn't so damn old, he's a piece of irl.
He's still an effective player even at his age.
It's just the way teams are more fast paced now and the fact that he's in the lower part of his career, what's the point in signing him for a good amount even for a year when you're not gonna play him for most nights?
If the Spurs were gonna sign a 7'0" vet, they're better off just signing a player of Theo Ratliff's calibur, IMO.
He's going to be a sportscaster after this season imo.
Proof that height alone does not equal instant success. He will still find dollars despite having no speed and being a PnR sieve.
It wouldn't bother me if the Spurs signed him. It would only add to the Championship pedigree and if it's for the LLE why not? Him and Duncan could never be on the floor on the same time, but shaq would not get too many minutes anyway so I don't think that would be a problem. I could see him signing with the Spurs, Magic, Cavs (if Lebron stays), Celtics, or the Mavericks. I really don't see him signing anywhere else.
Id welcome shaq for cheap. would love to have a true center down low. plus his defense is still solid (just because hes so damn big)
Yes... add another slow, old ass to 'help' Timmy down low.
Since we need good pick and roll defense, I say DO IT!
Wont happen...he wants more rings than timmy.
Front line of Duncan-Splitter-Shaq-Dice-Blair =![]()
He also doesn't want Tim to have more rings than him. Tim would never have more rings if he came to the spurs.
yes. Only for cheap though, and if the SF need is met thru the draft.
http://nba.fanhouse.com/2010/07/07/s...-more-seasons/Shaquille O'Neal's first choice is to join the San Antonio Spurs for one final run at a fifth NBA le, and he wants to play two more seasons before retiring, a source told FanHouse on Wednesday.
From that article:
"He'd really like to go to San Antonio and team with Timmy (Duncan), and try to win one more le,'' said the source about O'Neal, who starred in high school in San Antonio.
Spurs general manager R.C. Buford declined comment.
I'm sure he did.![]()
Will he have sub les or a translator?
Would make sense for the LLE or vet minimum as the 5th big. I'd take 80 year old Shaq over an in-his-prime Matt Bonner. With Splitter presumably joining the Spurs would have a solid frontcourt.
Duncan
Splitter
McDyess
Blair
O'Neal
I'd just like to see Pop send Duncan over to foul his own teammate at the jump circle -- old habits die hard.
I'd hate to have that fat on the Spurs, but I think the only way I could stomach it is to S&T RJ to Cleveland for Shaq, but with a 4-5 million dollar difference in salary so SA gets a trade exemtion to go after Anthony Morrow. Unfortunately with GS trading some wings in the Lee deal it looks like Morrow is in their long-term plans.
I think Shaq on the Spurs for 15 minute stints would be interesting...give him 3 year LLE fully guaranteed (rather than 2 year MLE he wants), and save the MLE for Splitter...
