Because they hate guarding the 3 point line, simple as that. They hate it and much more enjoy popping popcorn and watching Nash dribble in circles until he finds Amare or one of the wide open 3 point studs on that team.
You know, the only difference between this guy and Matt Bonner is that one is a ginger. Oh well, I guess one hits 3s in the playoffs too.
I could live with this loss so much more if it didn't come at the hands of Channing ing Frye. I mean seriously this guy is so ing bad that all you have to do is guard his one shot and you'll be fine. I can deal with Amare going off and I can deal with Manu playing sub par and I can even deal with Bonner being so scared to shoot that he almost cries everytime he gets an open 3 but I find it so hard to believe they can't guard Channing ing Frye.
WHY THE CAN'T THEY DO THAT?

He scares me if the Lakers do end up matching up with PHX in the WCF. Bynum and Gasol always seem to get killed by a jumpshooting big.
A lot of players get killed by jump shooting bigs which is why BONNER SHOULD NOT BE THIS ING USELESS.
God damn.
Frye is a playoff choker..he shot 36% in the playoffs last year and 36% in the first round this year..
If the Spurs didn't give him wide open 3-point shots every time down, when he's at home too, he would be useless..really disappointing..
Exactly. He should be the Suns Matt Bonner not the Suns Robert ing Horry.
Jesus Christ.
It was painful to watch Duncan guard him. Timmy needs to guard someone near the basket! I'm not sure why Pop put Timmy on him for awhile.
Don't be hating on Channing Frye. I want that guy to be a Spur next year.
frye is a joke, ing lighter version nick cannon looking
I bet you Frye disappears against the Lakers if its Suns vs Lakers.
in Matt Bonner though. He should only be playing on lottery teams because that's all he shows up for.
Channing ing Frye.
That's just pathetic. Meanwhile our '3 point shooting' big, pulled his traditional choke job again.
He was channeling Black Nowitzki...Blawitzki!
this guy is shooting like 65% from 3 right now, its incredible
Exactly.... I feel you 100% on all of this. From him being basically Bonner on a respirator (Bonner of course has no pulse at all), to being sickened by losing because we wouldn't guard him.
It's like no one cares about the scouting report. We know what to expect from Frye, and other teams know what to expect from Bonner...but they don't have a reason to be scared of Bonner, and we have plenty of reasons to be scared of Frye...yet they do a better job on Bonner than we do on Frye.
You can only imagine the destruction we could possibly face against a team like the Magic.
It's actually 70% for the series now. If he carries that into San Antonio, Spurs get swept and I will personally break Bonner's legs so that he cannot suit up for the Spurs ever again, just because.
This is no different than anything we have seen all year long out of this team. They have missed rotations to shooters time and time again. It's not really a surprise that it hasn't changed now.
Hi guys. I don't think I ever feel this bad after a game. To me, this is worse than the game when fisher made that shot within 0.4 second. The mav series got me all pumped up, but this game makes me feel like Spurs is going to get swept.
I mean, I agree with everything you guys said. Spurs are getting beaten by the Sun's bench, especially players like Frye & Dudley. These are supposed to be just role players, not stars. Being a passionate spurs fan all my life, I have always thought our bench is deeper with blair, mahimi, hill, and the supposedly clutch shooter mason. But who am I kidding, all that potential and never materialized. This kills me inside.
For everyone that is criticizing Channing Frye, it doesn't matter what the forecast is for him. Right now, he's kicking the Spurs ass by repeatedly making the defense pay for leaving him open. That alone is something that the Spurs red-head can't do. Give the guy some credit and show Bonner to the door.
I've quietly defended Bonner for the past few seasons. No more.
With all due respect, that is the book on Frye. He's been one of the Suns better 3-pt shooters all season. Why the Spurs keep leaving him open, is a mystery.
Frye was 2 for 14 on the road in the 1st round of the playoffs..his 3-point % dropped 7% on the road during the regular season..
That's the good news..
The bad news is that it doesn't really change the fact that the Spurs don't know how to make rotations..
A problem that this team has had all year.
channing frye has been hitting that shot all year long.
