NASA due to launch R2 into space, September 2010
NASA will launch the first human-like robot to space later this year to become a permanent resident of the International Space Station. Robonaut 2, or R2, was developed jointly by NASA and General Motors under a cooperative agreement to develop a robotic assistant that can work alongside humans, whether they are astronauts in space or workers at GM manufacturing plants on Earth.
The 300-pound R2 consists of a head and a torso with two arms and two hands. R2 will launch on space shuttle Discovery as part of the STS-133 mission planned for September. Once aboard the station, engineers will monitor how the robot operates in weightlessness. Throughout its first decade in orbit, the space station has served as a test bed for human and robotic teamwork for construction, maintenance and science.

Only more proof man can not survive traveling through the Van Allen radiation belts.
The apollo missions went through the van allen belts in about 1 hour total travel time.
That's about the same amount of radiation as an X-Ray.
Only lethal if you stay and linger in the belt.

the USSR and USA were in the space race together they helped each other out. they shared rocket scientists that were from the Nazi era.
The USSR wanted to have the first man in space and the first space walk etc... they didn't have the Hollywood production and the Video tape editing machines to pull off a convincing moon landing so they agreed to allow NASA to have at it.
If you knew anything about Space and the way the USSR and the USA are in bed with each other you would not ask such meaningless questions.

You read online,in a book, or saw a tv show that convinced you man went to the moon, but yet those same Tv shows,online sites, and books about God are fake? The only time books ,TV shows and online links are good is when you snapper heads want to prove Evolution exists or that the earth is Billions and Billions of years old, But as soon as anyone else uses a book,online site or TV show you dismiss it.
