Jefferson can only get rid of himself. Splitter is not coming. Batum, WTF?
the small talk about wouldve couldve shouldve! We didn't so who aint coming back next year? Can we get rid of Jefferson? Is Splintter coming? What about Nicolus Batum, can't he be had or Scola? 2010 is over so let's not talk about it.
Jefferson can only get rid of himself. Splitter is not coming. Batum, WTF?
We need to to package Jefferson with Tony because that's probably the only way to unload his contract. Jefferson on this team is beyond useless.
My idea, TP/ for Bosh/Turk.
It's probably a 75% certainty he is.
i think the Jefferson trade really did this team in, especially chemistry wise...i'm still puzzled by that...
And I think Mason was probably a silent cancer...
Turk? No thanks
Turk has the worst contract in basketball.
we can't get rid of parker, his awareness and pg ability will always be better than hill...hill could work as our barbosa
but honestly the spurs only have had success through the draft...they don't have a single big time player that they have aquired in free-agency or a trade aside from maybe rodman...spurs don't attract or want free agents they like the home grown talent
I don't think they want Turkoglu's bloated contract thru 2014, and no point guard.
I think that's be the only way to land Bosh. To take on the contract. , they took on Jefferson's ty. bloated contract, and that was without a legit all-star attached in the trade.
Yeah, there was something that didn't fit there for sure with Jefferson. I always got the feeling he never really became part of the team. Most guys end up bleeding silver and black after being with the Spurs for a bit, but I don't know that he ever bought into the whole thing. I hope they can move him, but it's going to be tough with that contract.
Let's face it guys, this was probably the last year we might have had a chance at another championship with this bunch. Tim is starting to break down with his knees hurting all the time. Don't get me wrong....he's still better than most, but the younger guys are starting to take it to him. Manu can still be great at times, but he's in his 30's too. Tony still has quite a few good years in him, and Hill has become a great player for us. But none of them are a Tim or a David Robinson. If you look at most of the teams that have been successful taking championships, they almost always have somebody you would characterize as a super star. Tim is/was the only one of those we've got.
Lakers/Cavaliers (maybe the Magic) in the finals
Next year is going to be tougher too with OKC coming on strong.
I agree. I think his personality is too "happy go lucky" to ever buy into the true philosophy of the Spurs. I mean, I'm sure he's nice and all - but he just isn't a fit - personality-wise or skillset-wise.
Richard Jefferson from San Antonio
Jefferson is in the last non-exercisable year of his contract and cannot be traded. However, next season is currently an early termination option and if is not exercised, then the player can be traded.

I was working on a trade: RJ for Nocioni and some others and I got this error. So RJ has to not exercise his ETO before the Spurs can trade him
He'd have to be nuts to not that money if it's on the table. He's not getting anywhere near that amount if he decides to go elsewhere. In this coming offseason, that kind of money is going to be difficult to come by for a player of his caliber.
Plus they already know that Turk can't hit an open jumper with Timmy passing out of the double-team
Rj for nocioni,!?!?!?
RJ would have to be nuts not to not take that money. In fact, I am wondering if that might not be one of the problems with him. The truly great players in this game don't do it only for the money. Granted, they like the money, but somebody like Manu or Tim or Tony would play their guts out, and have for their national teams, just for the sake of competing to win and because they love the game. Some players in this league just don't have that kind of compe ive fire. He may be one of them.
I can't see RJ not choosing the payday. Just have to pray there are some suitors by next February or that he's vulnerbable to hypnosis.
is there no way to get rid of RJ??
I think he wants to go over to Spain, as for RJ Spurs need to put in more palys for him!! I thought he was pretty productive.... offensively.
if spurs are ready to trade TP or RJ....what can the spurs get back????
He's not a spot up shooter. Orlando understood that, and put the ball in his hands. SA and TOR did not understand. He's a great small ball '4', and presents a lot of the same matchup problems that Odom does. He can bring the ball up the floor and initiate your offense. He's a good passer, and shoots better on the move than he does standing still.
While he's here, I agree and mentioned as much in a few other threads (particularly coming off of picks/down screens/rubs), but his inconsistency in terms of finishing at the rim was a let down in this series. Seemed like the tighter the game got the shorter his arms got.
He hardley had the ball, it always was in Manu's hands!! Even in this last game Manu just didnt have it but tried to force the issue!
I think that there isnt enough ball to go around havin the big three & Jefferson! mayb if we incorporate more plays for him he mayb more productive. ....IMHO.
Jefferson and his agent might flirt with other teams a bit to see if he can get a longer deal for a bit less money per year say like 4 years and a player option at 9+ mill per year otherwise he's staying a spur ofr next year. I think based on what I've heard splitter is here next year hurray, he's going to get rookie calls from the refs, boo. I think a guard rotation of Hill Parker Manu, and Temple is a very very nice back-court. I'm really pleased with temple being able to play both 1 and 2 having a decent shot and good size for either position all told a steady back-up and really inexpensive for the spurs. Great pick-up. .
McDyess is gone kinda sad he didn't get a ring this year but he's got a couple all ready and he bummed through most of the year. He's retiring this off season or an end of the bench guy through the year and deservedly so for some team. Might also be used as trade bait somewhere. Bonner is coming back, he is worth 3.5 mill per year in NBA salaries, knows the spurs and is decent as a bench big during the regular season. Haslip is gone, I really don't understand why pop never gave him much of a shot; splitter is coming in his place Blair is back and his sop re year should be interesting, will truly define weather he is merely an energy guy off the bench (possible but not real likely) or a slightly undersized supersub capable of 20+ minutes and more with the right match-ups. Mason gone gone gone, can't say I'll miss him Ian Mahinimi I don't know pop seems to like him, he seems ineffective on the floor and fouls alot. I think unless another team offers him more than 2 mil the spurs sign him for around that as a back-up. Bogans I predict to be gone. The spurs will try to get someone with around 5 to 6 mill in free agency.
Roster at season start
Blair
Bonner
Duncan
Ginobli
Hairston
Hill
Jefferson
Mahinmi
Parker
Splitter
Temple
What ever Small forward can be gotten for Vets min or traded for Dyess
Spurs Will be in tax but only for 2 or 3 million. Not good but not crushing.
