No just a developed Bynum and Gasol. Kobe's not too bad either.

Honestly, the Lakers have alot of role players surrounding 4 excellent players, three who are All-Stars (Bynum is better than Kaman). Kobe, Gasol, Bynum, and an underrated Odom make the Lakers elite. The rest of the guys are good at their roles, but not as good as in years past. That's why Gasol and Kobe are gonna have to carry the load more than usual. Still betting on them getting to the Finals.
And what past would that be? Shaq/Kobe teams were a definition of 2 man teams. Everyone else, save for Horry on occasion, were garbage. Last year same thing. The fact is in today's NBA a team with "4 excellent players" is about as good as it gets. This ain't the 80's anymore.

Lakers losing a game 7 on their home floor? That's definitely not happening.

OKC, Utah and Phoenix were the matchups the Lakers wanted because they don't have the players to handle the Lakers front line.

Gasol won't be able to guard to Amare. Neither can Bynum. Odom won't be able since he has to stay on the perimeter and defend Frye. Also, Fisher or Farmar are no match Nash/Dragic and Hill, Dudley, and Richardson are better than any other Lakers wing except Kobe. Suns have an advantage against the Lakers defense.

The problem with the Suns will be defending the Lakers, especially Gasol. Amare may be able to slow them down, but it won't be easy. I don't think Bynum will be a factor this series. He's injured and the Lakers will use Odom alot more. Kobe will get his regardless, but the Suns need to make him work for it.
    Solid take.
I don't see any scenario where PJ doesn't put Artest on JRich and ask him to shut him down. JRich has been the offensive X-factor for us all season....Amare will have to have a MONSTER series in terms of points, rebounds, switch defense, transition defense etc...

Frye is a different player @ home than away with his perimeter shooting, but his offense will be a big factor too in terms of disrupting PJ's front court rotations and allowing the SUNS to capitalize on some rebounding matchups with the Lakers possibly going small at times.

This will be a scrappy series.

Oh, and PJ won't so easily get into Gentry's head with his condescending mind game tactics as he did with D'antoni's weak skull.

Suns sweep Lakers, 4-0. Or Suns eliminate Lakers, 4-1.

    Don't say it's impossible.

Anything can happen when the Suns play well.

the way they're beating the Spurs can happen again even if the Lakers have twin tower.

    Artest on Jrich
    Kobe on Hill
    Bynum/Gasol on Amare
Nobody on Frye. He's just the type of weak minded scrub we love to leave open so he can the bed with bricks. Just look at his soft ass face, I wouldnt be surprised if Ron went into the Phx lockeroom at halftime and robbed him, just because.
Fisher on Nash, since for whatever reason Fish plays like a prime Steph Marbury when matched up with one-eyed Sloth

I'm sure they're in line downtown telling that to Gentry right now>>>

    - "He's a delusional old man, Al, don't pay him any never mind."

    - "He wore that X cap with Red fresh in his crypt, Al, don't pay him any never mind."

    - "We're the Spuns, Al, don't pay him any never mind."

    - "My name is Paul, I think we're gonna lose, Al. But, don't pay me any never mind."

    - "My name is Duncan, I hopped on board when the goin' got good. I'm young, pimpled faced, and , Al."

A big THANKYOU to the Spurs, Jazz and Suns for taking out the Blazers, Mavs and Nuggets.

Lakers couldn't have asked for a better matchup (outside of the Jazz).

Suns are one of the best 3 point shooting teams. Lakers are one of the best 3 point defensive teams.

Suns are weak on the interior, Lakers score the most points in the paint.

Steve Nash is older than Derek Fisher

    Raja Bell is long gone

Key is Suns have to go into Staples and get at least one. They've lost there by 19 and 20 points so far. Lakers can be one of the dumbest teams in the league at times. Clearly they have a mismatch in the paint and will have Shannon Brown, Fisher, Bean, et al chuck up threes without going inside first.

Pound the ball inside to Gasol and Bynum, and Odom should own whomever is on him. Don't leave the shooters, don't double, let Amar'e get his 25 and the Lakers will roll. As soon as they double and the ball is moving faster than their rotations, they'll be in trouble. If they play smart, it should take no more than five games. But they're not always smart.

Kobe will get Jrich in foul trouble if he takes him to the post. When that happens, I want Barbosa checking into the game, we've got 2 years worth of asswhooping to pay back to that little er. Look for DFish to give him a Scola Special as he runs downcourt with his little unassuming "I just Leandrinho, I like-a to play the basketball" look on his cro-magnon face.

Sasha should be back this series as well. Its always nice to have him piss Nash off a little even if he doesnt shoot anything.

Key is Suns have to go into Staples and get at least one. They've lost there by 19 and 20 points so far.
True. But the first game was when the Suns were playing their fourth in five nights and the Lakers were coming off a four day break.

The second game was almost exactly the same. Suns on the second of back to back, Lakers coming off a break.

Im not looking at those two games for how this series will pan out.

Likewise, the Suns now like to start Robin Lopez who can hold his own against Bynum much better than Frye can. Frye will be expected to come off the bench and drill threes versus keep Bynum out of the lane.

The Suns made a mistake early in the season of having Richardson guard Kobe. I doubt that will happen this series. Kobe is gonna see a lot of Hill and Dudley and I expect them to make him work A LOT.

Amare never has problems against Gasol. Ive seen him drop 40+ against Gasol on MLK a few years back without breaking a sweat. Gasol doesnt have the length (LONG ARMS) of Duncan or Rasheed Wallace (the type of guys who give Amare trouble). Amare will dunk it on his head every time.

Fisher usually does a good job against the pick and roll and hes been shooting better lately. Suns will definitely have to keep an eye on him.

Artest is hit and miss on offense. If the Lakers want to run their offense by going into Artest in the post, Suns will take it. Not sure who he'll be guarding on defense. Could be Hill or Richardson.

Odom is a great basketball player and rebounds extremely well. Hopefull Amare and Lou will keep him off the offensive boards. That will be a key.

Biggest X-Factor: Suns Centers. Lopez has to come back. Collins and Frye will get demolished by Bynum. Second is Channing Frye's 3pt shooting. If hes on, the Suns are basically unbeatable.

Yeah, all the Mexicants who live in Phoenix have been putting a little bit of their welfare checks in savings all season in the event of a Suns vs. Lakers series. You can expect to see plenty of people at the game who smell like tacos wearing a "15 rings, got" shirt they bought when they heard the Lakers were in the playoffs and playing the Suns.

Here's what will need to happen for Phoenix to win:

Their bench will need to dominate LA's bench
Lopez needs to come back healthy
Dudley/Hill will need to do a good job on Kobe with no help from teammates
Amare is going to need to score on post isos efficiently, LA defends pick and rolls better than anyone in the league
When LA gameplans to stop Nash from being a distributor, he needs to score
Everyone needs to hit their threes so LA can't hone in on Amare down low

That's pure ignorance. Gasol is only a legit 7'1".

Its Duncans "ape-like" arms that give Amare the problems. Gasol doesnt have the freakishly long wingspan.

I went to Spurs/Suns and sat lower section back in April. Duncan was arguing a call via "showing his palms" and I said "God damn...look how freaking long his arms are".

Duncan is seven foot but plays like hes 8ft. Hes the best in the league at basically tipping it to himself around the basket.

Gasol? Meh. Amare's worst game against the Lakers this year was the game Gasol didnt play.

Maybe Amare will send a limo to make sure Gasol gets to the game on time.
