Cuban paying the luxury tax for a jumpshooting 1st round exit team
He got the first two rounds right regarding Suns, and Spurs, don't know about the rest.
Phoenix getting a lot of respect because the Spurs deservedly get a lot of respect so Phx is inheriting it. But they don't deserve it.
6? 7? Phx a challenge? Yeah it was nice they beat the Spurs but SA didn't have an
interior advantage nor the firepower. Add that with losing their defensive iden y and old legs on their Big 3 and it was a wrap.
Look at the matchups. Besides at PG, Phx doesn't have the edge anywhere else. And Nash can't do it for 40 while Fisher is shooting the best he has all year.
What's more, Phx role players got their confidence rolling at home to start the last 2 series. The bright lights of LA is something else.
Not to mention LA will be fired up because they owe Phx something.
Of all the West playoff teams, Phoenix is the easiest matchup for LA.
Hard to call sweep (Lakers have only did it 13 times ever) but it won't be close.
I'll take Grant Hill over Ron Artest, of an athlete, harder worker, and he's more consistent. Plus he doesn't jack 50 threes a game that he has no business shooting. Hill's a mid range jump shooter and he shoots just that. And while I'll say Gasol's the more talented player, he's a and Stoudamire's offense will be good enough to cancel out Gasol's offense. The only clear advantages you've got are Kobe over Richardson and Bynum over Lopez, but I also think they'll work their bench better than LA. Not to mention that if Jason Richardson shoots like he's been shooting the rest of the playoffs, that Kobe advantage also slowly evaporates.
That's so long ago and teams have changed quite a bit so I don't think it's a factor.
http://espn.go.com/nba/dailydime/_/p...510/daily-dimeNow, while we prepare for the lengthy buildup to the Western Conference Finals, there's another word to keep in mind for the Lakers: vengeful.
As much as the Suns wanted to erase their decade of futility against the Spurs, the Lakers still are bitter about losing to the Suns in the 2006 and 2007 playoffs.
"We've still got guys that remember it," Odom said. "Ask Kobe about it."
We did.
"What you think?" Bryant shot back. "You already know."
So yes, in addition to their height advantage and their ability to handle the Suns over the past couple of seasons, the Lakers are also bringing an at ude with them as well. One last description, then, for the Lakers: determined.
LA ain't forgot. Kobe, Bynum, LO, Farmar, Sasha, & Walton were all on those teams.
Sasha and Walton aren't playing much (at all?) so that leaves 4 players. And I'm not convinced that it matters to Odom, Bynum and Farmar all that much.
And which one of those series is the one that Kobe quit on his team and lost the game for them? He's got nothing to be pissed at other than himself for one of those series.
It's all about the benches in this series. To this point, Phoenix has shown they have ample firepower off theirs.
I guess you weren't aware that other people are allowed to have OPINIONS too, but instead you get all butthurt
Idiot Laker fans notwithstanding, I believe the Suns just don't have the talent or length to compete against the Lakers. Amare is bothered by Bynum for some reason, and he can't guard Gasol to save his life. He should call Bogut for some tips.
Agree, lakers are like a healthy portland who's length bothered the Suns even without Oden. The middle is just plain clogged up for teams playing LA which negates Amare. They're going to need some superb ball movement and shooting to make this a series.
Luckily for the Suns, that's exactly what they have.
This is a team whose bench can beat the Spurs starters.
I think they have a good shot to beat the Lakers.
EDIT: About Portland, I didn't watch the series, but I would think the Spurs had even better defense that the Suns just broke down.
It seemed like everytime the Suns needed someone to score, they would.
Hollinger was right about Dallas and that Phoenix would advance to the WCF, but he did predict they would be playing the Jazz instead of the Lakers.Oops.
Hollinger picked the Jazz over the Lakers and the Jazz were obliterated 4-0. Shows you how much he knows.
Was the prediction before or after Okur went down in the playoffs? He's a definite loss and aside from game four, all the games were very close. He could have made a difference in extending the series, and in extended series, who really know what happens.
