Raja Bell sucks. Ya'll would whine like next year if we got him...
Mehhh...I would go after a younger player...Bell is pretty much done.
Raja Bell sucks. Ya'll would whine like next year if we got him...
I'm not a fan at all, never have been, but I wouldn't mind him, DEPENDING on the other players on the roster..
This team REALLY needs to keep focusing on acquiring young, athletic players..so if the other wings on the team fit that description, I wouldn't mind Bell playing the role of the veteran defender that spreads the floor..
So if the Spurs draft a SG or SF with some athleticism, or if Hairston/Gee shows enough promise to be in the rotation, then I wouldn't mind having a guy like Bell to play the "Bogans role"..obviously the team will need some experience, and to Bell's credit, he's a tough guy that plays hard and shoots a high % from outside..
Obviously you can't predict the future, so the FO doesn't know whether one of these young guys will pan out in Summer League or preseason, but I guess I wouldn't mind if they signed Bell to a cheap contract that allows some flexibility in regards to waiving him or trading him if necessary..
This team needs their "edge" back...they need teams to fear their defense and Bell is a Bowen-type of intimidator. I do like Bogans in the same role, but Bell seems to be an upgrade as a shooter.
Raja Bell right now would be the bad ass tough guy the Spurs really need. He can also space the floor quite well. If he's willing to come cheap, you do it in a heartbeat.
I would love love love this guy on our team. Please FO, somehow, someway, make it happen.
For the right price, I would take Bell.
It's either Bell or Bogans guys, so which one you want?![]()
I'd be somewhat concerned about him potentially falling off the map defensively, because he is older and coming off what essentially amounts to a lost season. Aside from that, he's the best realistic option I see available to upgrade Bogans. High character/IQ player, tough, excellent three point shooter and even if he has lost a step defensively, he can't be worse than Bogans in this regard.
Sure, I'd prefer someone longer, more athletic and younger, but Batum types don't grow on trees. The Spurs could take a chance on Wright, McGuire, etc., but the former is a mediocre shooter, the latter can't shoot at all and despite their considerable physical tools, neither has the reputation defensively that Bell has.
I think the ideal, realistic situation to improve the depth on the wings, is for the Spurs to draft George and sign Bell. Between those two, Jefferson, Ginobili, Hill and Hairston/Gee, the Spurs would have more than enough options and depth at SF/SG.
Bell said today that his first option is the Heat, if they're interested.
Bell would be a really good pickup for the LLE IMO. He brings intensity, hes a vet and he can hit the 3 ball.
I am all for bringing this guy in for cheap.
so, at least it is a save bet to assume the Spurs are not on top of his wish list. depending on what FA the Heat can land and how much cap space the other signings leave available, but Bell will make a lot of sense for them, especially if they get rid of Cook.http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/m...,4737128.story
FIU product Raja Bell would welcome Heat opportunity
If low-budget parts are needed to round out what is expected to be an overhauled Miami Heat roster, former Florida International University guard Raja Bell says he is up for the challenge.
Speaking Monday on The Jorge Sedano Show on 790 The Ticket, the 33-year-old journeyman guard said he would welcome the opportunity to revive his NBA career with what he considers his hometown team.
"I've talked a lot about it with my agent and my family," the 6-foot-5 defensive stopper and 3-point specialist said. "Miami is my first choice. If there would be any interest from the Heat I would give it a ponder. It's my home town"
A native of the U.S. Virgin Islands, Bell was raised in Miami, attending three high schools there
Wait, Raja's from the USVI? I think we have some guy named Tim that can persuade him to come to SA.
Bell is done. If the spurs signed him he would spend the entire time in SA rehabbing because of injury.
It's funny that people say that Bell is done, but cry for Bowen...
Whatever.![]()
I wonder too how much Bell has left in the tank, but after watching a season worth of Bogans, he can't be any worse.
Seems like he wants to play for Miami
News: Bell, who is an unrestricted free agent, said Miami is his "first choice," the Miami Herald reports.
Spin: Bell openly lobbied Heat president Pat Riley while doing a radio interview in Florida. "Pat (Riley), if you can use my services, give me a call. I'm right around the corner, 36th and Biscayne, give me a call," Bell said.

Yeah Raja will sign with Miami. Hes a Riley type guy too.
Thats too bad. I'd love to have him replace Bogans.
They're not tight, from what I understand.
Lakers consider pursuing Bell
By Adrian Wojnarowski
The Los Angeles Lakers and guard Raja Bell will enter free agency with a strong mutual interest to reach agreement on a deal, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
Kobe Bryant has become a strong advocate for Bell, a former nemesis. After missing most of the season with surgery to repair ligaments in his non-shooting wrist, Bell is still expected to be a coveted bench player among contending teams. He could give the Lakers another strong perimeter defender and a solid outside shooting threat.
Bell, 33, was dealt to the Golden State Warriors in November as part of the Stephen Jackson trade with the Charlotte Bobcats. Bell missed all but six games last season.
Bell famously dropped Bryant with a clothesline foul in the 2006 playoffs, but the two developed a mutual respect and bond. Bell was ejected and suspended a game for the foul, and complained about Bryant’s tactics in the postgame news conference.
“It’s a personal thing when someone continually hits you in the face,” Bell said at the time. “That’s the only way I can put it. I’ve been playing as hard as I can play. I’ve been trying to do a good job, I’ve been trying to be what my team needs me to be, and I continually get hit in my face. There doesn’t seem to be any boundaries or limitations for what he’s allowed to do to me, and at that point, I kind of lost my cool and I took it into my own hands.”
Bell made a league-high 205 3-pointers in the 2006-07 season for the Suns under coach Mike D’Antoni, but his role changed the next season under Terry Porter and he was eventually shipped to Charlotte. Bell averaged 13 points in 45 games for the Bobcats in the 2008-09 season.
Ill take Bell for sure for a vet min contract.
Does he realize how much playing time he would actually get, or does he just wanna be Morrison?
I think Bell should be on the Spurs radar. He is still a good defender and can shoot the ball.
James Anderson should solidify us not pursuing Bell IMO.

NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com’s Marc Stein that Bell has been contacted by several other contending teams, including Boston, San Antonio and Portland.
