I'll be thinking of Dragic as Jozy Altidore dances all over their defenders.
Jozy had a frustrating year in England, but if we see the guy who showed up for the confed cup, then the US could be a dangerous team.

Spain is the best NT IMO right now, but they're like the Mavs of football: they tend to choke on the bigt stage. Still, these are not the same guys they had in previous debacles, and they are the same guys that won the Eurocup. They're the best but in footbal,l upsets are a lot easier to get.

    Short list of favorites:

    1-Spain
    2-Brazil
Thanks for answering, DAF. I was going to choose between Spain and Brazil, but wasn't quite sure between the two. The rules of the bet have changed and the team we pick doesn't have to win it all, just hast to get further than the other's team. I think I'm going to roll with Espana this time around.

So what will be the terms? Victory or group position? I suggest which ever team wins - the loser proclaims the superiority of the other nation in his sig until the end of year, in case of a draw, the team that finishes higher in group is deemed the winner, unless the team is only higher by a virtue of a random draw.

BTW: Slovenia&USA will also play in group stage of the FIBA WC.
    That sounds fine.

BTW: You have no chacne in FIBA

No Charlie D......just too soon to make it back.

USA's 30-man Provisional World Cup Roster
Goalkeepers- Tim Howard, Marcus Hahnemann, Brad Guzan

Defenders- Carlos Bocanegra, Oguchi Onyewu, Steve Cherundolo, Jonathan Spector, Jay DeMerit, Clarence Goodson, Jonathan Bornstein, Heath Pearce, Chad Marshall

Midfielders- Landon Donovan, Clint Dempsey, Michael Bradley, Stuart Holden, Ricardo Clark, Maurice Edu, Benny Feilhaber, Jose Francisco Torres, Alejandro Bedoya, DaMarcus Beasley, Sacha Kljestan, Robbie Rogers

Forwards- Jozy Altidore, Robbie Findley, Brian Ching, Edson Buddle, Eddie Johnson, Herculez Gomez
I'm surprised to see Herculez Gomez. He was playing well for Puebla. He scored ten goals without being a starter for most of the season.

Too bad USA wasn't able to convince Giuseppe Rossi to join the national team.

Why is DeMarcus Beasley still allowed within 1000 yards of the MNT?

Sucks Davies couldn't get healthy in time, but it was a long shot. Hopefully Onyewu is healthy and hopefully Stuart can get into form, he just came back the last day of the EPL season.

I know Buddle looks in good form for the Galaxy, but I hope Bradley resists the urge to play him because he's hot there. I think moving Clint up front is the best pairing with Jozy.

Waiting for my #8 jersey to come in - super pumped about this tournament. I think we beat England!

England (30 names), coach Fabio Capello:

Goalies: David James (Portsmouth), Robert Green (West Ham United), Joe Hart (Manchester City).

Defenders: Ashley Cole (Chelsea), John Terry (Chelsea), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Ledley King (Tottenham Hotspur), Jamie Carragher (Liverpool), Matthew Upson (West Ham United), Michael Dawson (Tottenham Hotspur), Leighton Baines (Everton), Stephen Warnock (Aston Villa).

Midfielders: Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Michael Carrick (Manchester United), James Milner (Aston Villa), Theo Walcott (Arsenal), Gareth Barry (Manchester City), Joe Cole (Chelsea), Tom Huddlestone (Tottenham Hotspur), Scott Parker (West Ham United), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham Hotspur), Adam Johnson (Manchester City), Shaun Wright-Phillips (Manchester City).

Forwards: Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Peter Crouch (Tottenham Hotspur), Emile Heskey (Aston Villa), Darren Bent (Sunderland), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham Hotspur).
Great picks by Capello, Lampard better not go Bonner mode and pussy out when it matters. Oh and Hart better be the starting GK, he's been a beast for Birmingham this season.

He was voted the best Goalkeeper in the league by his fellow GK's, beating out players like Cech/van der Sar/Friedel/Reina etc. He was a huge part of a newly promoted team finishing 9th in the Premiership.

Couldn't find any highlights but he's a load better than David James, that guy ing sucks.

I never thought i'd say this, but I miss David Seaman

I will probably puke if we see Beasley playing major minutes. Talk about the Roger Mason of the MNT.

His first touch is horrible, but he's quick. It'll be interested to see if England open up with Walcott or Lennon (although I think he's still hurt) out wide. I doubt Capello will do that, but if they are out there are outside backs will be extremely vulnerable in allowing their wingers to get behind them.

I could see Beasley playing a lot if that situation arises because if anything he'll be able to keep up with their pace. That and that fact he's one of the more experienced players in the squad are reasons I could see him getting significant playing time.

Of course experience doesn't always mean anything....see Pablo's foolish tackles against Italy 4 years ago.

I could see Bradley playing for the tie against England. If that's the case, it wouldn't surprise me if he's out there.

Beasley's speed can be an asset but my problem with him is that, to me, he still looks fragile. I remember that he used to fall easily with light contact. He doesn't have the physical strength to remain upright during a run.
