No american should be ashamed of our history. They should learn from it but never have someone re-write it.
Declaration of Independence gets PC revision for kids
Even in subtle ways, intentional teaching our children incorrect facts about our history should be a high crime. When will liberals stop turning our schools into indoctrination centers?
No american should be ashamed of our history. They should learn from it but never have someone re-write it.
Seriously? Your party is completely corrupt and you post this?"Instead of saying 'all men are created equal,' it says 'all people are created equal,'" Leo noted. "Are we going to tell kids what the actual do ent says or are we going to change words in those do ents to be politically correct ... How can you change a historical do ent and not present it to students as written?"
What does your party stand for?
seriously people, just quote the damn passage 100 % accurate. the end.
so they changed theword men and replaced it with people... oh the horrah! Indonctrination!!!!![]()
Chelsea Schilling can suck a big fat ing herpes infested . Might I add, wonderful product placement for WND's own pull-out do ent books for purchase at their online super store!
Textbook publishers work at the behest of State Boards which tell them what they want to see in the books based on curriculum decisions they make at those meetings every so often. You know, the ones where they cut out Thomas Jefferson because was a supporter of the term "seperation of Church & State" and attempt to limit the emphasis on the theory of evolution although everyone else seems content with going along with it.
Anyway, overall that textbook sounds like it sucks. Burn it.
Are you on any government program, guy who hates stupid people?
I think it's pretty stupid to not quote it as it is. Stupid PC.
It's a nice opportunity to explain that things weren't always as they are today; that laws and the Cons ution has changed over the years to make passages like that have a different meaning. Just quote it as is then talk about it. Kids aren't that stupid.
For better and for worse, their parents often are.
How can you possibly understand the issues of Slavery and the Women's Suffrage movement- and the need to amend the Cons ution- if you do not know the truth about what was lacking for certain groups of people in the first place. These are probably the same people who still believe that everyone who colonized the East coast believed in religious freedom.
We all know how often fifth graders refer to the appendix of their textbooks.TCI representative Natasha Martin told the Lone Star Report that the authentic version of paragraph two in the Declaration of Independence – containing the word "men" rather than "people" – appears in the appendix
Dan, are you incapable of leaning anything?
How many times have I said I do not belong to a party?
You are seriously dumb. My voter's registration card says "Not Affiliate" in the party block. Has since the 70's.
What does it say about peo9ple when they cannot get simple facts right?
What does it say about you that you think it's OK to rewrite history?
explain how it indoctrinates people..changing men to people.. how does this change history?
memo to jack..back in the day 'men' = 'everyone'.....
When you have to go as far as changing the language of a do ent, what else are you changing for PC purposes.
These people are a threat. Lies are lies. Simple fact is the integrity that allows such lies, allows for more and more lies just to suit an agenda.
It's just wrong on so many levels. If you don't understand that, then I guess you are also one who believes in lying, cheating, stealing, etc.
what did the term 'men' infer in that do ent? or are you stating that it's only men who are created equal?
George has a horse in the race. He can't think for himself and the worse thing, George thinks he is smart.
what did men infer back then jack..very simple question..are are you stating only men are created equal?.. run away now
are, are, are. You are stuttering.
You are a very stupid person, George.
so you don't know..I'll educate you dummy..men was intended to mean everyone...
LOL @ you educating anyone!
I'm calling you stupid. I'm not talking about anything else with you in this thread except you are a stupid, stupid person.
This, like the Texas textbook controversy before it, seems absurd. We've reached a point of over-politicization; every freaking thing in life does not come with a threat of political indoctrination or political repudiation. We can't teach Thomas Jefferson's impact on the First Amendment and we have to change the Declaration of Independence -- I guess that nobody really wants Jefferson's actual words in schools any more.
I wonder, too, if schools teach that "all men" in 2010 is very different from the way it was understood in 1776, not just because of its gender inclusivity but also because of its non-contemporaneous racial inclusivity.
