Gortat is okay but he ain't all that...he makes 3 layups/dunks and now he's Hakeem? Calm down dummy

Got burned not getting Gortat. Think he was the missing piece that could of put the Mavs over the Spurs?
Would Carlisle even of played him?

Carlisle played Okur because he had no choice. Choices would have been Gortat vs. Damp (haywood trade prolly wouldn't have happened). Yes. Gortat would have played. He would have allowed Dallas' post game to be vastly improved. Dallas would have been a 3 or 4 seed, but gone on to the 2nd or 3rd round.
Gortat no doubt would be starting center on most NBA teams.
What did Erica do in the series that Gortat couldn't do, cheaper and better?
The missing piece to put the Mavs over the Spurs was George Hill not making a bunch of lucky shots and Roddy Beaubois getting unleashed.
I take Haywood over Gortat. Either way Gortat's not much better than Haywood if he is better.
I think Gortat is better than Haywood from limited sample size. More athletic and a better defender.
He is not an all-star or anything, but he is definitely a very solid center.
Gortat had kind of an off-year this season, but he's definitely capable of starting on a good amount of teams in the NBA..he actually showed some good work in the post last year, he didn't show much this year..
I like Gortat a lot, he'd have been a steal for the MLE. Agreed he had a down season, I think he's unhappy in Orlando, he wants to play more minutes.
There's two ways to look at this question: if you just add him to the roster the Mavs had in the playoffs, it wouldn't make much of a difference because he isn't much better than Haywood (assuming Carlisle, for whatever reasons, would still play Dampier).
Now, if the Mavs had signed him in the off-season, then they probably would have found other options to trade Howard+Gooden, as Haywood would be redundant. They could have acquired Butler and another piece, or just find a completely different package. I also think their chemistry would be better.
Would've, not would of.
even have, not even of.
How's the bus pass working out for you?
Unrelated topic but having Gortat next to Duncan would have completely changed the dynamic of the Suns/Spurs series. There are a lot of teams that would take Gortat, truth be told I'd love him as the starting C next to Amare since he's a bigger body w/ Lopez as the first big off the bench.
Gortat only looks good next behind DH because his opponents all have been ragged so bad when he gets his turn to take them on. He's a perfect cover for DH who's a great dominant center which doesn't mean he will do equally good in DH's role. DH rarely misses games so we haven't seen much Gortat being used as their starting center.
Haywood isn't a satisfying piece either though. At best Haywood has been a competent player for a playoff participator which is miles away from the requirements of a championship contender. although the Mavs aren't too far away from the throne, it's not easy for them to get such a player they need, who plays as good as Haywood in offense while doing the same decent job as Dampier's at defensive end.
No..Gortat is a nice center but if he is better than haywood, its marginal. IMO if Gortat plays significant minutes, he would foul out in 20-25 minutes
Every game Gortat has started in his career the guy has gotten a double double, the dude can be a starting center.
Mav fan defending their ty 1st round exit to team postmortem
Played more than 20 minutes in 30 games and fouled out only once. He isn't foul prone at all.
I think Gortat is more athletic than Haywood.
They want to get the LOB trophy but they don't want to change anything? Heh, samething up stairs though.
Gortat is pretty damn athletic tbh. He can dunk from the ft line iirc
Yeah, I think Randolph is threatened by Gortat's ability to throw it down.
Gortat having a great game so far in game 2. Defenitly would of helped the Mavs.
