Duncan's impact on defense (in his prime) is more underrated than what Muser said about Ben Wallace.
That's because Duncan never deserved a DPOY award. And the Admiral was a better defender anyway.
But yeah not many were better than the Dream defensively. He had the skill and the freak athleticism.

The 1999, 2005, and 2007 teams would all beat the 94 Rockets, and the 2003 Spurs vs 94 Rockets series would be close. I don't know why anyone here would think the 2003 Spurs match up best with those Rockets. The 1999 Spurs would crush them, being able to throw prime Robinson and Duncan at Olajuwon. 05 and 07 Olajuwon would kill Nazr Mohammed and Oberto, but Parker would torch Kenny Smith and a rookie Sam Cassell, and it'd be even worse with Ginobili vs Maxwell/Elie. In 03 even though Duncan was at his best, rookie Ginobili and 2nd-year Parker weren't anywhere close to the players they were by 05 and 07, and Stephen Jackson probably wouldn't make up that difference.
The 94 Rockets are one of the weakest le teams I have ever seen. They constantly blew leads and only had one horse on the team to rely on. They almost lost the Finals to a weak Knicks team in a series where Ewing played like a dog. Now if we fast forward to 95, that Rocket team would crush the last 3 Spurs le teams, with the 99 Spurs team being the only one with a shot to beat them.
Yeah, '95 Rockets would be a better comparison.
LOL Weakest le team? I could run with that one, but I'll leave it alone
Nah, the 95 Rockets were a wildly underrated team who would slaughter the 03 Spurs. Drexler really opened up the interior for Olajuwon to run wild that year. That Houston team had by far the toughest path to a le I have ever seen. In round 1 they beat a prime Stockton and Malone (60 wins), round 2 a prime Barkley and KJ (59 wins), round 3 a prime Robinson (62 wins), and round 4 a prime Shaq/Hardaway (57 wins), all without homecourt. les don't get any more difficult than that.
Failing to comprehend that 2005 team >> 2003 and 2003 team is not what it seemed, you are obviously re ed
Who on that 94 Rocket's team is going to guard 01 Kobe?
Shaq can't guard Hakeem but 01 Shaq is still going to get his 28 and 12.
'06 Cheat are the weakest " le" team of all time, considering most people don't even consider them a le team.
"Parker was still young and undependable, often losing minutes to Claxton"
bull myth. The 2003 Spurs won over 20 games, lost 1 when Tony got 20+ pts. Can't say the same about Speedy. Speedy hit a couple late shots in the Finals, but has just about disappeared from the NBA since June 2003.
Duncan's supporting cast is much better than Olajuwon's, even though it's possible Olajuwon will outplay Duncan somewhat.
No, but arguable. And now you're just a complete idiot. That's because Duncan never deserved a DPOY award.
Yes and fact.
And now you're a complete idiot for implying Duncan deserved a DPOY.
Laker fan being a - . No surprise here.
lol Camby > Duncan.
This comes down to Hakeem vs Duncan and a hobbled Robinson. A matchup The Dream wins handily.
insecure
nobody even brought the Lakers into this discussion
spurs in 4 games, outside of hakeem the rockets roster looks crap
Laker Fans have no reason to talk, or even live for that matter, unless it's about the Lakers.
You guys are missing the point... I picked the 2003 Spurs team because they were like the 94 Rockets in terms of having NO ALLSTARS beside the lone bigman. All the other teams 1999, 2005, 2007 had allstars in either David Robinson, Tony Parker or Manu Ginobili....
Like stated above, the 2003 team had Just Tim duncan with a washed up old aged Robinson, a rookie and developing player in Manu and Parker.
i think your a got
There's only one team in the state that has produced back to back championships and that is the Houston Rockets!
LMAO at your sig
Can't rest on that, looking toward what we need to address so we can produce more
The Spurs and Mavs might be teh better but they have not won back to back like the Houston Rockets!
First of all, the Mavs haven't won any so take them out of the equation, second, I'd rather have 4 than 2, but it, we'll take those 2 we have, for now
