Whoa, baby!
A quick-thinking bus driver narrowly avoided running over a baby girl on a Texas road on Wednesday.
"From a distance I can't tell exactly what it is. It looks like a dog, something moving around, I can't really tell what it was," Mike Hubbard, the bus driver, told News 4 WOAI in San Antonio. "I started slowing down and then I noticed it's a baby in the middle of the street."
The shocking incident, which took place around midnight, was caught on the bus' cameras.
Hubbard stopped the bus just feet from the 14-month-old child, who was later identified as Destiny Flores.
The video shows the bus stop suddenly as it approached the baby. The bus driver then got out and ran to the child. Seconds later, another man, later identified as baby's father, scoops up the girl and walks away without saying a word.
Destiny's parents are now in danger of losing their child to protective services.
"We had the door open, but there's a screen door," Catherine Gonzalez, the baby's mother, told WOAI. "I had the lock on it, but I don't know, maybe I didn't put it all the way and she just snuck out. I really can't even tell you."
"It was just an accident, that's all it was," she said.
