How's the probability could this happen ?
In fact I think Cuban interests in everyone who soon will be free-agent.
And he seems very enjoy spending money.
That makes me worry about the Spurs~

Mark Cuban's not supposed to be commenting on potential free agents. He's very probably the stupidest person in the NBA, and that's quite an accomplishment.

They could use Erica's expiring contract, along with terry or butler...long shot, but it is possible.

Mavs best offer for Lebron could be something like:
Butler + Beaubois + Dampier + Stevenson + picks for James + Jamison + Gibson.

If James said either S&T me to Dallas or I will sign with Knicks, it's a good offer for Cavs.

Mark Cuban can say tonight's sermon and sing acapella to amazing grace, but what counts is what Lebron says.

You'd almost be forced to package Stevenson in any such deal... I don't think the two could coexist given their contentious history...

I think Cleveland would play hardball with Dallas. The only sign and trade they would do would have to include Dirk. They would be better off starting over in a rebuilding process and letting LeBron walk than taking on the Mav scraps.

Cavs can control James destiny (west-team) without taking any contracts back, thats the beauty of instant expirings (they waive Damp and its the same cap situation as James left as a FA).

Do you prefer to rebuild with nothing or with additional 1-2 draft picks and Roddy? And with or without the best player in your own conference the next 6 years?

Cavs cant play hardball with James because they have no leverage BECAUSE they dont have to take bad contracts back in a S&T scenario with the Mavs. James snapping after hardball "Fine, then im leaving as FA to the Nets" would be actually worse for the Cavs than him leaving to Dallas.

of course he's interested. Every owner of every team is.

If he manages to pull it off, well that's another thing, and very unlikely.

NBA probing Cuban's statements regarding interest in LeBron
    By SI.com Staff

The NBA is reviewing comments Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban made about LeBron James that could fall under the league's anti-tampering rules.

In an interview with CNNMoney.com this week, Cuban said his Mavericks would be interested in pursuing the two-time MVP should he become a free agent on July 1.

"Come July 1, yeah, of course. Anybody would be interested in LeBron James, and if he leaves via free agency, then it's going to be tough," Cuban said in the interview. "If he does like I'm guessing, hoping he will, which is say, 'I'm not going to leave the Cavs high and dry,' if he decides to leave -- there's still a better chance he stays -- then he'll try to force a sign-and-trade, and that gives us a chance. ... What I do know about LeBron in the minimal time I've spent talking to him is he just wants to win. Money's not his issue. He needs to be someplace where he trusts the organization."

Though Cuban's interest in James is not surprising, his statements may have violated the NBA's anti-tampering policy, which was detailed in a memo to all 30 teams in 2008:

"If a member of your organization is asked by the media about a potential free agent prior to the July 1 following the last season covered by the player's contract, or about any other person under contract with another NBA team, the only proper response is to decline comment."

If the league finds that Cuban crossed the line, it could impose penalties ranging from a fine of up to $5 million to the loss of draft picks to prohibiting the Mavs from bidding on James.

Asked whether his remarks could be considered tampering, Cuban told ESPNDallas.com in an e-mail: "No. It's not tampering. Not even close. Nice try."

A fine would be ridiculous, but also typical for that kindergarden NBA.

Its freaking James, of course everyone want him and everyone will look to sign or S&T him. Or next time he should just say "of course we are interested in HIM/you know who i mean"? Thats ok then by the rules? lol

Everybody knew who Mikhail meant mainly with "Gonna meet and talk to free agents".

But Cuban said the forbidden word "Lebron" so lets investigate?

    Seriously? Kindergarden....

I don't think Lebron picks the Mavs over Chicago or New York. And Cavs could find a lot of better sign and trade partners because any sign and trade offered by Dallas would be crap.

Bad thing for Cleveland: James has to agree to a S&T.

Spurs trade would leave him with Duncan and Gino, that window is even shorter than the one with Dirk/Kidd/Marion/Haywood beside him.

He also wont accept a S&T where the new team send too much talent back to Cleveland because then he is nowhere near a le (like Kevin Martin + Ariza like some Rockets fans are dreaming).

Cleveland is just completly ed if he wanna go...

LeBron holds all the cards. If he tells Cleveland to either acquiesce to a sign and trade with the team of his choosing or lose him for nothing, they'll most likely take the type of deal from Dallas that Bruno suggests. They've got no leverage to push a hard bargain on the Mavs.

And it doesn't matter if you believe the Spurs have a better offer, because if LeBron doesn't want to go to that team with what's left of the team, the deal can't be done. He can go to the team of his choosing that's got the cap room.

And I think he could be fined significantly and maybe even a 7 figure one. Having said that what does Cuban care about money if he lands James? Not a damn thing. If the Spurs or any team pay a $1M fine and get James as a FA w/o a S&T then it would be well worth it.

Mavs best offer for Lebron could be something like:
Butler + Beaubois + Dampier + Stevenson + picks for James + Jamison + Gibson.

If James said either S&T me to Dallas or I will sign with Knicks, it's a good offer for Cavs.
If the Cavs do a S&T then they are really screwed. That team is built around James so if he walks then they realistically have to blow up the team and start over. Or at least ask for Dirk. That way they can tell their fan base that they still have a compe ive team for them to watch. They must think about their fans in this situation so they can still rake in the bucks. If James just walks outright then they can tell them not to have such high expectations for several years.

If James wants to win a le then he won't sign with either Chicago or NY. There is no way right now those teams are in any position to win it. A massive overhaul would have to take place for that to happen. If a le is what he wants then the Cavs have a much better chance than either of those teams.

newsflash: a team owner wants to sign LeBron.

    file under: well, duh!!! obviously
All Cuban had to say was instead of we, "any team", and there wouldn't be a problem. Pretty damn obvious that any team would benefit from his presence.

I think Cleveland would play hardball with Dallas. The only sign and trade they would do would have to include Dirk. They would be better off starting over in a rebuilding process and letting LeBron walk than taking on the Mav scraps.

My thoughts exactly. Either get Dirk and stay compe ve or blow up the team and start over. The Mavs scrap amount to pretty much nothing when you consider that the Cavs have just lost James.

    Money is not issue?

    Yeah right
Depends. What does he want more? A max ocntract or a chance to win a le? As I stated above if he signs with Chicago or NY then all he wants is . Both teams have NO chance of winning a le unless there is a major aoverhaul.
