Philly is shopping the #2 pick for anyone who takes Brand's contract off their hands? Simply trade butler/stevensons expirings for brand/#2 pick.

now we're looking at either drafting Turner with the #2 pick and trading dampier/beaubois OR dampier/#2 pick to the cavs for james/varejao. The next move would be signing Raja Bell for the LLE and still having the MLE to work with.

So now we're looking at a lineup of:

Kidd/beaubois?? or Terry
Turner(or beaubois?)/Bell/Terry
Lebron/Marion
Dirk/Brand/varejao
Haywood/varejao/(maybe resigning a released Damp?)

and still having all if not most of the MLE to work with

Craps for Brand&#2 pick isn't the move I crave because the #2 pick this year isn't so valuable as what such a pick is supposed to be. Except for the only guy who's guaranteed to be the No.1 draft (sorry but I can't recall his name at the moment for some reason), all other draftees are roughly the same calibres who won't be too much divided from the 2nd to the late first round.

And even if Mavs get a decent rookie from the draft, it still doesn't make much sense because 90% chance he'll spend most of his time next behind Matt Carroll on Mavs bench, exactly like what Roddy did in the past season.

After dealing Deshawn and Caron, youd only have Damps non guaranteed deal and JJ's expiring to dingle to the cavs (along with either the #2 pick or Roddy). That is like what 16-17 Million???? Where is the rest of the money going to come from?

you're right, you pointed out a flaw. we wouldn't be able to get varejao. previously i had been thinkign about including butler's contract, but now that would be used in the other deal. hmm
