Dirk opting out gets you down to like $18 mil over the cap instead of being around $32 mil.
Let's get something straight: Dirk loves Cuban. Cuban loves Dirk. Dirk trusts Cuban. Cuban trusts Dirk.

Therefore, Dirk opting out and saving Cuban money is NOT a surprise to anyone. At least, not to anyone with a brain. Dirk will be in Dallas next year with an All-Star (Joe Johnson, LeBron James, or Dwayne Wade) so it's really a moot point.

Why would anyone not want Dirk on the team?

Is that directed towards me? If so, other teams WILL want Dirk. I don't doubt that. Fact is, Dirk doesn't WANT to leave, he wants to finish his career in Dallas, preferably with a ring.

its possible that he is opting out so he can renegotiate a smaller contract in order for dallas to attain some better players. i dont doubt his loyalty to dallas, and at the same time, he is obviously desperate for a ring.
props to him if he does it. id give it a 92% chance he re-signs, with 35% chance its for less money to attract lebron or others.

Maybe the Spurs can sign him and get Cuban to pay his salary.

These two conditions are mutually exclusive of one another. Move along Dirk.

You're right. We're not going to sign any of those stars. We're going to trade for one. Dampier+Roddy+Butler+picks for LeBron/Wade/Bosh/Johnson.
