what good are spot up 3 point shooters when there's no one on the roster who commands a double team?
actually, OP's problem is solved, Manu is basically just a 3 point shooter now, and we signed him for 3 years. 3 point shooting problem solved

now we just need a player who can create offense and a player who can defend the paint
but he can't get to the hoop anymore
Admirable that you continue to support such a terribly flawed team. I hope Bonner's departure doesn't cause you to lose all hope.

Get away from spot up shooters, winning that way is over for the spurs, time to adjust. Get all around athletes that can take it to the rack and hit midrange jumpers. Get RJ going in the open court and he will be an improved overall player.

Tighten up the defense on the frontline, get rid of Bonner, Bogans, Mason, Ian, and move McDyess to the bench and get all around athletes to fill out the roster.

I wonder about trying to pry Daniel Gibson away from Cleveland. His minutes and role have been decreasing for the last 2 years, and he'd help sure up the guard spot behind Tony/Manu/Hill.

Morrow would be awesome. As would either Korver or Red . But Red 's recent play is probably eliminating any chance the Magic let him go. Then again, Otis Smith is an idiot, so who knows.

    Korver
    Mike Miller
    Belinelli
    Spanish Manu
    Damon Jones
    Daniel Gibson

Actually Anthony Parker would be a great backup SG. Clever, decent defender, team player and great shooter ..Shot 41% from 3 last season.

Only, he is not a FA and is in his last year of contract (2010-11) for the Cavs.

Is Fernandez a possibility?? probably not as Euro teams are offering tons of $

but if somehow Pop and Co could convince him to come to Spurs.

Imagine: Splitter + Fernandez coming in

No way would Pritch trade him to the Spurs, he'd make them pay through the nose, say Hill + a 1st round pick for Rudy. Do you take that deal?

He is going into the third year of his rookie contract with Portland. The only way to get Rudy is through a trade with Portland. He will only make 1.2M next season, so a trade with San Antonio is improbable.

I think getting Temple and Hairston in the gym with Chip will be huge. Temple should the ability to hit the corner 3 with surprising consistency. If he can shore that up and then extend his range to other places on the court, he should have a good run at it with his size and athleticism. Hairston needs to develop a jumpshot if he wants to be a real contributor on this team. Spots are going to open up. Hairston and Temple need to take them the way Hill did last year.

And Parker seems to have stopped improving his range once he got the midrange jumper down. If Parker could become a credible 3 pt threat again, he should be a tough, tough guard. With the extra rest this summer, he should get his legs back and with it, his speed and quickness.

Finally, Hill just needs to stay in the gym and keep working. Work on creating a 3 pt shot instead of spotting up. Hill has the tools to be a big contributor on this team in the way of a 4th option with the ability to step into the 3 if needed, on a consistent basis.

He'd give them a lot of toughness on the perimeter and the interior from the 3 spot.

I still think Dorell Wright has the potential to provide three point scoring and athleticism and could be gotten quite easily while everyone else is looking for their Moby.

Morrison could be a candidate for SF backup if he can get his shot going. Of course no one knows what he can do because he has been on the pine for over a year. Maybe the bench time has done him so good like it did Red .

Mark it now...Raja Bell will be a Spur next season. He's a good defender and he's cheap.
