I don't think it was that. I think their talent just badly outclasses Boston's. Everyone but Rondo is past his prime in Boston, and the Celtics don't have much of a bench.

Finley? j/k I still think Allen getting into foul trouble killed any chance Boston had.

This is goint to be a predictable game. Kobe comes out firing for the first two quarters trying to prove a point that he wants payback scoring 26 points in the half. So, Boston lets Kobe gets his while they focus on defending Pau Gasol and Odom. Second half comes in, Kobe tries to play facilitator but his teammates fails because of Boston's defense and they are out of rhythm from Kobe's dominant first half, Boston up by 6 at the end of 3rd. Kobe says " it" in the 4th quarter, shoots himself with a healthy 3/11 ratio. Lakers never recovered from trailing. Boston wins. Laker fans drowns in disappointment. Some things never change. Boston>Los Angeles.

See you folks in game 2.
    Everyone makes mistakes.
stop making them. Maybe one day, you'll actually say the Lakers will win and get one right.

PP plays Kobe as about as good as anyone has.
Goes to show it isn't all about speed and quickness... you can go a long way with smarts. He and Kobe know each other really well and defend each other well.

With as much as Bynum was dominated by Perkins tonight, it's easy to see why he would have been a total non-factor in the 2008 Finals. Turiaf is a much better player anyway.

I think Ray Allen getting into early foul trouble killed Rondo and his drives. They just kept collasping in on him everytime he drove.
Lakers played smart smart smart D for the most part tonight.

Notice how they anticipated most passes?

C's would swing the ball looking for the open man. Except there wasn't anyone.

    Reverse the ball, same thing.

    Skip pass... turnover.

C's did this to the Lakers for stretches too -- these are two very smart defensive teams.

Didn't feel like digging up any "Perkins is going to murder Bynum" posts and told-you-so's aren't my style. Thought this worked better.

He didn't play well offensively vs. Orlando either. Cavs series was the last time he played great both sides of the ball.

No doubt this is in part due to the knee.

Better get that meter checked milkshake...

Bynum played great tonight. Game changer on both ends... on one leg, no less.

Guessing his 2nd half bench time has a lot to do with his knee stiffening up when they take him out. Because he thoroughly outplayed Odom tonight.

Yeah. Both teams lost significant time due to foul trouble but LA weathered that storm much better because Kobe/Fish/Artest didn't get serious trouble until garbage time.

I can hear Bill Walton now: "What's the record for personal fouls called on players with the last name of Allen in the first half of an NBA Finals game?"

I hope Boston can come back and end this stupid streak PJ has going with that game 1 crap.
I expect some will try to downplay the significance of PJ's 47-0 winning streak stat. I don't see how. "Somebody has to break this streak," yeah, I suppose so, but you'd be a fool to bet against PJ and Kobe at this point.

Plus, it's crystal clear that the Celtics aren't the same the same team from 2 years ago, while the Lakers have only gotten better.

    Kobe gets his 5th, it's a lock.
    Congratulations Lakers.
