I've worked out religiously for a few years now and have lost a good amount of weight, but I wanna just finish my dieting off completely. I started P90X on June 1st and these are workouts way crazier than anything I've ever done. Has anyone here completed the 90 days and are the results as extreme as they look on TV?

I've been doing it for 40 days now. When I first started it, I thought I would be able to catch up since Im pretty athletic and my body fat is at 10.8%.
Boy was I wrong! I felt dizzy 30 minutes in and almost puked so I stopped working out with 10 minutes left. I was sore as and waited 2 days before beginning the routine again. plyometrics imo is the hardest of all the workouts and if you have a bad knee, I suggest you think about it since it involves a lot of jumping and lower body action.
Its pretty effective and I saw a big difference in terms of strength and fat loss. I guess it should be effective since it is really an intense routine.
If you can take the 6 day/week beating you will do to your body then do it. I saw a major improvement in my body doing p90x in just 15 days.

That's good to hear I guess , I had to pause the video and catch my breath the first few times because of all the soreness. I thought the food they recommend you eat would taste like but it's not that bad.

DOK, what kind of food do they recommend you to eat?

Foods that just really high in lean protein. It really is all about discipline, but if you get into it you won't wanna eat junk food or anything, these workouts would be impossible to do if you had a fast food meal in your system. The one problem is a lot of this food requires ingredients I have to go out and buy which can be a pain in the ass.

Basically, the best time to do the program for people like us in college is over the summer. I can already tell it won't be easy finishing the program when school starts.

My cousin did this and lost over 40 lbs. Definitely works and gets good-great results -- IF you stick to both the regimen and the diet, like any other routine.

Yep; it would be like putting the wrong fuel in your car.

Regarding the food, once you get familiar with the basic healthy eating principles, it will be easier for you to buy your food.

Regarding the schedule: I have a friend of mine who is about to finish the P90X.
He works from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 to 17:30
He has to commute everyday for a total of 2 hours
After work, he had to study for the GMAT (to be accepted for an MBA)

He has been waking up a 5:00 a.m in order to do the P90X workouts

Best ever is the single leg wall squats. If there is one workout they will allow in , that would be it.
Oh no wait, one arm pushups will be an option in too. What i do is I supplement it with a different kind of pushup. I still dont know how they ever think an ordinary man can do those. I can do 2 on my dominant arm but Im afraid I might break it or something.

Yeah it gives you a plan everyday for breakfast, midmorning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner.

Just speaking from other dieting experience, don't eat any big meal past 1:00. Last summer I lost 20 pounds carbo loading for breakfast, working out in the morning, having a good sized but not huge lunch, then going for a run sometime around 5-6 o'clock, and then eating soup for dinner.

, is there anyway I can just get the diet part out of the workout. I have been searching for like 2-3 months for a diet to follow but I dont want a phony one or buy something like Px90 only for the diet.

    I eat:

    Breakfeast: Eggs and McCans Oatmeal

    Mid Morning: Protein Shake

    Lunch: Tuna Sandwich

    Mid Snack: Almonds/Apple

    Mid Snack: Protein Bar

    Dinner: Grilled Chicken Sandwich

    Night: Avacado and bread

I cant tell if thats a ty diet or not, I need a real one

There's nothing wrong with that diet dude, what are your fitness goals? Are you trying to add muscle?

If you're naturally lean and have a high metabolism then try eating more red meat. You're not gonna get fat and that will add muscle mass.

Thats the thing. How do you define Lean? Skinny? Muscle definition but not jacked? Not skinny but not defined?

Lean as in you have a naturally thin build and have a metabolism that makes it impossible for you to gain weight.

Well I am 6 foot 168 pounds right now. I am lean, but not like jacked. But I am trying to get like Ryan Reynolds from Blade 3. That man was straight ripped. My arms are like that, but my Pecs and Abs arent. My pecs are decent but they arent formed to that degree and my abs are just straight, they arent just muscle like without flexing.

    So basically like that.
damn..6 foot 168 pounds!! you should be taking some protein buddy.

Nah, I am not like that at all. I used to be fat in middle school and I am not naturally thin or impossible to gain weight. Thats why my diet has been hard to make.

I have almost slow metabolism and I gain weight fast. Ive put on 8 pounds of muscle in 2 months. I went from 150-168 after I started lifting again in April.

So what's wrong with you're diet exactly , you've put on 18 pounds of muscle since April.

If you wanna get toned, then just cut out carbs completely or as much as possible. Eat a lot of salmon, veggies and fruit. I don't drink protein shakes since I don't want to have any more muscle than I currently do but for some people they work so I won't give advice there.

Why how much should I weigh
that picture of reynolds isnt really jacked (as in big), he's just major cut. im sure there was a bit of dehydration etc when filming that scene. But if you wanna have similar looks without the lighting and prep work, i'd say 185-190 at 6 foot.

    8* pounds.

    I see.

    So basically mostly protein/fruit/little carbs?

Yeah, no guarantee it will work but I'd try that if what you're doing isn't working. A vegetable omlette for breakfast, some kind of salad for lunch, and poultry for dinner. With fruit as a snack in the afternoon and a protein bar as a snack in the morning.

For weights, I'm not sure what you currently do, but just try to know as many exercises as possible and don't do what a lot of people do which is have a workout routine and just mindlessly repeat it. Mix it up a lot. The best exercises are when you're working against your own body weight or using free weights, machines for the most part don't do . People I know who go to the gym and just use the machines always whine about never adding any muscle.

the if i know how to make a vegetable omlette.

Thats like not even 1000 calories?

Sorry but I edited snacks in there. It doesn't need to be a nicely done omlette, just veggies cooked in with scrambled eggs works fine.

So basically 10-15 pounds of straight muscle.
doesnt even have to be straight muscle...that would be nice...but just try to build up the mass and you can play with how lean you want to look like.

Well that's just a general model. You can have vegetables with dinner and fruit in the morning when you have your omlette. The general guideline though is fruits, vegetables, little amounts throughout the day to keep your metabolism going, and lean meat. It might not be high in calories but it's high in protein which is how you get extremely toned. If that doesn't work then have chicken for dinner sometimes.

PS - Do you ever eat salmon? When I lost 60 pounds (of mostly pure fat) and added muscle, it was largely cause of all the salmon I ate. Anyone trying to tone up, lose weight, or anything health related I recommend as much salmon as possible.

    It works for sure.

Now did you buy P90x legit or did you buy a bootleg copy or DL it yourself?
