60 WPM is ridiculous. I'm probably at 75 on my pc.
Heh. I bet I'm hitting at least that on my Evo. Of course on a real keyboard I'm up in the ~120 range.... perks of being a nerd.

Seriously though guys, I've used both keyboards, the 3G, 3GS, and Evo. It's not a contest. The Evo decimates all. The predictive text in the Evo is slightly superior too. If it picks the wrong word and you backspace, it goes back to the original letters you typed, instead of leaving the word like it is with the iPhone's software. Pretty amazing.

Well, Cry Havoc, I haven't used an Evo so I can't confirm or deny that.

    On another note, Engadget:

11:05AM He's asking people to set their laptops on the floor.

11:05AM Guess what -- we're not doing that.

That's what I'm saying, I HAVE used them both. If you have really small hands I could definitely see someone preferring the iPhone, but I have pretty small hands for a guy and I think the Evo is a perfect fit. Even a bit larger (say 4.6") wouldn't be too large, IMO.

Educate me: Does the HTC Hero for instance, not use the same software for typing as the Evo does, as they're both Androids?

Perhaps, but only if the Hero you used was running Android 2.1.

So far, I'm pretty impressed by the iPhone 4, particularly the camera and the gyroscope. Everything else was relatively expected.

Assuming he touched on the larger points - it's been as expected for the most part, but still pretty impressive. However, he said there are over 100 changes to this new phone. Eight of which he touched on in detail.

ONLY over Wifi, and ONLY to other iPhones.

Huge advantage to the Evo for now, which supports video calling over 3G, 4G, and Wifi.

11:41AM "AT&T is going to make an incredibly generous upgrade offer. If your contract expires at any time in 2010, you can upgrade to the iPhone 4. You can get it up to six months early."

I'm shocked they're doing this.. AT&T when I was working there was a real pain in the ass about this, even if it was a day early for an iPhone upgrade. Good stuff, AT&T.

I really think the iPhone 4 looks great, but I seriously don't think it will be considered top of the line in a year.

Great screen, and great camera, but it's a 3G phone. In a year, 4G will be going up in quite a few cities. Regardless of how fast the iPhone processor is, it won't be able to pull network data like a 4G phone, and therefore is going to be left behind as far as super high-speed internet connectivity goes, to say nothing of AT&T's ludicrous bandwidth caps.

Considering how much money they stand to make from people going over their bandwidth caps, it's hard to see why they wouldn't do this. 200 megs to an iPhone is absolutely nothing. It's 3 CDs worth of data, just over 2 CDs at a high bitrate.

No phone will be able to stay top of the line for a year anymore.

The $25 affects 2% of users. I use my phone constantly and used about 700MB of data last month

What about less tech-savvy people who don't understand the implications of 200mb vs 2 GB? They just want an iPhone and the ability to surf... and then they get hammered by overages?

And sure, 2% sounds like a comfy figure, but with more HQ and HD video coming out, and this thing has NETFLIX for crying out loud, that number is going to skyrocket as the shift to higher bitrate data takes over.

First part is the responsibility of AT&T and Apple to properly educate their customers.

Netflix will almost surely require WiFi. As well as any other HD streaming

As opposed to being completely left in the dust, like today's 3G phones will be once 4G starts to crank.
