Metal is at a weird point right now. Too many sub genres. Too many cookie cutter metal groups. Too much cheese. The last thing I always pay attention to is the lyrics. The content and delivery. If it gels then it's a win. Gaza is an awesome group out of salt lake. They're just a wall of destruction. Nothing thrashy just brutality. There's Converge. Nasum. So much out there.

ehh, I think there's always been to many cookie cutter groups. Anytime a new style or sound comes out, you have that small window to listen to the trendsetters before you're inundated with copycat garbage.

I'll check out some of those bands. Thanks.

side note: The main riff in "Controlled Demolition" on this new FF album really reminds me of Demanufacture.

I know. It was in response to Leetonidas' inclusion of them along with Slipknot, Mudvayne and Disturbed. I should have quoted him.

I've been looking for something new that really hits me lately and I've yet to find anything I thought was really good. I've tried dozens of bands, all from similar genres.

Necro ist isn't bad but it gets boring pretty fast. The song "seven" off of Epitaph is alright. Reminds me of Morbid Angel from the early 90's.

Sonic Syndicate, Gojira, Melechesh, Dagoba Face, Aeon of Horus, Quo Vadis haven't really made the cut.
    Ever tried Volbeat?
Metallica meets. Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley.

    Absolute stunning live!

I think a more apt comparison is Danzig. Not usually my style but it's not bad.

Well I don't know - Volbeat shifts between Hard riffs and rockabilly sound a lot.
Maybe this is a more adequate video to watch.

I replied after listening to half of that previous song.

This song is different and I gotta say it was pretty badass. The singer kind of reminds me of Keith Caputo from Life of Agony.

Yeah, it's hard to pick the right song because many of them sound so different. They're Danes and currently the shooting stars in the scene in Europe - touring with Metallica and AC/DC.

What I like is that all their albums tell a story and are connected to each other.

What I can suggest too is bands like:

    Eluveitie
    Wintersun

and just for the sake of fun: Korpiklaani and Finntroll.

Look up the lyrics online if you need to know what they're saying.
That sort of thing is not a big deal to me.
