I love the American kit. I agree that Adidas makes the best but I always like what Nike does for the US.
The USA jersey is indeed pretty awesome. I also like the red Serbian jersey with the cross, reminds a bit of the inter cross jersey and I like the French, Argentine and Slovenian jersey with the Triglav mountain.

Puma jerseys suck this time though.

Nike has come up with some questionable kits for brasil before, but they always seem to pull through for the WC, no different here, I love the simplicity

early 90's would have destroyed this team, really. We had serious troubles with classification phase (mainly mental french stuff) but it was a quite solid generation.

This 2010 team is simply awful: no talent, no coach, no consistency, no heart... nothing. Compared to Raymond "la science", Diego Armando Maradona is Sir Fergusson.

I will support them and I'd love to eat a damn fat crow but I see the word FAIL coming early for us...

I will jump on the Argentinan bandwagon !
I remember the WC qualifiers for 1994

France had 2 games left, both at home

They just needed 1 point to qualify.

Lost both games at home to Bulgaria and Israel

    WTF was that.

    Algeria-Slovenia gets subs ute ref

JOHANNESBURG -- Referees also are getting hurt ahead of the World Cup.

Pablo Pozo of Chile is injured, FIFA said Tuesday, and will be replaced by Carlos Batres of Guatemala for Sunday's game between Algeria and Slovenia in Group C.

Pozo's assistants will be Leonel Leal of Costa Rica and Carlos Pastrana of Honduras.

The fourth official will be Martin Hansson of Sweden, the referee who missed Thierry Henry's handball and allowed France to qualify for the World Cup in a playoff against Ireland.

Germans write off Socceroos' chances of upset David Lewis in Johannesburg From: News Limited newspapers June 09, 2010 2:50PM

FIRST it was injured Germany skipper Michael Ballack ridiculing Harry Kewell for being an inconsistent under-achiever in a dismissive interview with Alpha magazine.
Now the German media has emerged en masse to pour scorn on the Socceroos with key defender Per Mertesaker also chipping in by damning Pim Verbeek's men with faint praise ahead of Monday morning's World Cup kick-off for the men in green and gold.

In what amounted to a huge collective snub to the Socceroos, the level of ambivalence shown towards Australia by the three-times World Cup-winning nation left little to the imagination in Germany's first press conference since arriving in South Africa on Monday.

Centre-back Per Mertesacker, of Werder Bremen, couldn't even countenance the possibility of losing to a Socceroos side who pushed Germany hard in their own back yard in a Confederations Cup clash back in 2005 before suc bing 4-3, a game in which he scored a headed goal.

Asked if anything other than a win would be a disaster, he replied: "It's not something we are expecting to have to face. Needless to say it would be a very bad result for us not to take all three points because we know have the capacity to beat Australia.

"We have a lot of power in our squad but also Australia are a team that cannot be easily discounted."

Defenders Mertsaker and Arne Friedrich barely fielded a question from German media about the threat posed by the Socceroos and when they were asked to comment offered only grudging praise, with Tim Cahill the sole exception.

A bizarre 40-minute tete-a-tete with 110 media types produced just four questions out of a total of 23 that bore even a passing relation to the opening match against a side most Germans believe to be as threatening as a team of lame kangaroos.

Two of those four questions came from the only two Australians in the room as an all-German love-in that centered on almost anything - the al ude, the weather, the facilities at their secluded digs, mobile phone connections, South African food and hospitality - other than the matter at hand; Australia versus the three-time world champions.

Before the players said their piece, the media held court with this gem from Klaus Berhman, of DPA news agency: "If Josh Kennedy is the hope for Australia up front, I would be very surprised and disappointed for Australia. Harry Kewell would be a much better choice."

Erik Alexander, of the cable TV channel RTV, extended that concept of disdain further, saying: "Of course we will beat Australia, does anybody doubt it?

"They certainly don't in Germany. We are a big tournament team and Australia are one of the minnows in the group.

"I think Australia will struggle to qualify for the knock-out phase, while we will probably reach the semi-finals at the very least."

Lieske Mattins of the Berlin Zeitung newspaper didn't offer much solace to the Socceroos either, insisting that a Germany side, which cruised past Bosnia 3-1 in its final warm-up, will be impervious to anything Australia can throw at it.

"Even though we are without Michel Ballack for the tournament, it won't matter against teams like Australia because we are too strong. We have the experience and the depth in our squad, whereas Australia are an emerging nation who has a lot to learn on the world stage," he said.

Ludwig Everts, of ARD TV, said: "The German public expects only one thing against teams like Australia and that is a win for us.

"We are country with big players and big ambition and Australia won't be able to resist Germany for a whole 90 minutes. They saw that they lost 3-1 to USA in a warm-up and they instantly feel we will beat them also.

"We are far more worried about Serbia in our second game than we are against Australia."

    Screw the Germans.

Of course it would take a miracle for the Aussies to snatch a win, let alone draw vs the Germans, but man it would awesome to knock those chumps off. I hate how arrogant the Germans always are.

South Africa security issues are already beginning, no surprise

Journalists getting robbed at gun point. It will be at least daily occurence during the World Cup. When i was in Jo'burg, someone got killed during a carjack about 1hr before we arrived at the same desitination they were

I wonder how many of the crimes committed will catch international media attention during the world cup. Of course SA Government will try and cover them up as much as possible.

That is one country that i both love and hate. Never been to a country that has so much to offer but yet so many issues.

True, but Zuma has only just come into power. That country will go backwards and fast.

Any country is in trouble that votes in a party headed by someone who disbands the anti-corruption police, gets off on 100+ corruption charges, rapes a girl and says he wouldn't get aids coz he had a shower afterwards. Plus he has multiple wives/mistresses in a country ravished by aids etc etc

I don't even want to think what will happen when Mandela dies. It is like he is the glue holding that country together.
