Tale of two halves concerning passing/possession. The US was 50/50 with England at the end of the first half. After the first 15 mins of the 2nd, Bradley packed it in, deciding to play for the tie

I'm not a soccer fan. Never will be. So maybe it's my anti-soccer bias coming through, but I think any sporting event that is allowed to end in a tie is just fraudulent. The rules of the game are what they are, and I understand how the point system works, but it just boggles my mind seeing fans like the ones in Dempsey's Pub celebrating the tie vs England. 90 minutes of play, and no one won. Quit celebrating!!!
England was supposed to pound us. Playing them to a draw is basically a victory for the USA.

As a side note, for someone new to soccer. That was AWESOME. The chants, the national pride, my god that was freaking amazing. For a game with very little scoring its amazing how glued to the TV with every move you can get! Heres to hoping that the mindset Less scoring = boring is going away.

Awesome game, can't wait for the next one! Whens the next American game?
Thursday or friday. I don't remember.

clark sucks why does he start? torres is better
Agreed, Clark was mostly a non-factor. Could see Bob put him in for the next match...Same with Buddle, although I stand by my statement that Findley was the right start due to his speed. Terry and Carragher were no match for the speed of Altidore and Findley. I'd be concerned if I were England because their back line is reaaalllllllly slowwwww

Very disappointing game by England. Good one by the US, though. Lampard disappearing again like he has done so often in international matches. I hope this was Heskey's last game as a starter.

A freaking tie? No single elimination?

Soccer is a freaking kids game and will be overtaken by basketball as the most popular sport in the world in our lifetime.

The only reason it became the most popular sport is because it is, by far, the cheapest to play. Pele learned to play soccer in Brazil with a sock stuffed with newspaper as a ball and no shoes on his feet.

The game is a total fraud and the US sees right through it.

Apparently everybody loves it there. It's ing annoying. It started being a concern at the confed cup, they thought about banning them, but ended up not doing it
+1 Those horns are ing annoying as . If you kept blowing one of those at a baseball or football game here in the USA, you'd probably get your ass kicked.

    I agree.

The tie is a very good performance for team USA, both teams will advance for the next stage.

Quit disapointing game for England, they entered in this compe ion with a classification record of 9 W 34 goals for 6 or 7 taken and they didn't play at their expected level. One positive thing is Johnson contribution, he is very very good.

The world cup was freaking HERE in 1994 and it STILL didnt gain a shred of popularity.

We know the game. We play it as kids before we develop hand-eye coordination. Then as we get older, we ditch it for sports which are much more fun to play and watch like football, basketball and baseball.

Basketball, is by far, the most fun to play and its spreading like wildfire across the globe.

Soccer will always have a niche audience here in the US but nothing more. World cups, beckham etc are never going to make the game interesting to us.
