Something that was pointed out yesterday and so far has held true is that nobody has been able so far to make the ball dip down after taking a free-throw over the wall. I think it speaks volumes of how light the ball is.

Have you ever played football or any other sport? It s up your game, specially for proffesional players that have all their moves automated. Have you seen all the free kicks going no where near the goal, how the ball bounces like a basketball, how hard is to contol it, how nobody can make a long pass 'cause it never goes where they aim it?

I played tennis/football (soccer)/basketball in high school...then focused on soccer in college. I've played with all kinds of ed up sport balls. In Cameroon, I played with a ball made with rubber bands. This ball was used in the African Nations Cup and I think the Bundesliga too. Players have to adjust. Simple as that. Everybody has to play with it

It's mental that's why Evra complained about it and blamed it for their tie. The people that are sucking at it are those that are letting it affect them mentally. Messi had no problem with the ball. Watch Spain put up a 4 spot

What do you mean mentally? Do they use mental powers to make the ball bounce higher and move like a ing boomerang in the air? Maybe it's just me, but it's pretty obvious that this ball doesn't do the things that a normal football does.

I mean that they are thinking about the ball instead of just playing. They're no such thing as a "normal" football. There are different balls in different leagues. There's been a different ball at almost every world cup. People but play and people still score.

Seriously the only way to defend this ball is to work for Adidas and/or FIFA.

I think you mean they're ing more about it now. That's probably fair but I don't think people will be talking about it after the world cup just like after every other world cup

    I don't work for FIFA/Addidas BTW.

No, I meant they aren't playing as well and scoring as often as they usually do, even for WC standards.

8 goals in 6 matches doesn't look good but it'll pick up.....I hope.

Except that the NBA backtracked after the player's complaints and went back to the leather balls...

no way that happens mid World Cup.....With the NBA I think there was a complaint that it was causing harm.....if this world cup continues its current pace for lowest WC goals ever then....yeah

They're not going to change it. But it should really serve as a learning experience. Next time, test it out in some other compe ions first (ie: Confederations Cup, Copa America, etc).

It was used in the African Nations Cup, Argentina Classura tournament, Bundesliga for team with Addidas outfits, the current 2010 MLS season, and was the match ball of the 2009 FIFA club World Cup which Barcelona won 2-1 against Estudiantes

I heard the field is too moist as well. Don't forget the horns. And the humidity. And the mosquitoes.

How are these professionals expected to play???

If it were just marketing, a little change in the visual design of the ball would do for people to go buy it. And also, it's not like you will throw away your 2006 World Cup Ball and go buy the new one just because it's out. These adidas balls last no longer than a year before completely falling apart.

Everywhere except Europe, where most of the World Cup players play. That makes sense...

I think a big part of that is due to the best teams not having played yet with the exception of Argie. England too but I've felt all along they're vastly overrated. In the Argie game Messi had tons of chances but didn't convert. Some of that could be the ball and a lot I think isvthe al ude, but you have to adapt and overcome. This ball won't dip over the wall on set plays? Ok, play short around the wall and put a ball in the zone. There are many ways to adjust and the best teams and players will do that. I look for a lot mote goals with Spain and Brazil still to play and on the second go around once everyone has had a game to adjust.

The reason Messi missed chances was the goalie. There's no two ways to look at it. I agree we should revisit this once all teams have played at least a game, or even wait after the group stage.
