Be interesting to see what happens now.
Latest from Chip Brown Twitter... and so it begins. SEC or salvage the BIG12. A&M will not go west with Texas.

1. Texas A&M turned down invite to join P10 in mtg today with P10's Larry Scott and Kevin Weiberg in College Station, a Big 12 AD confirms. 12 minutes ago via TweetDeck
Whatever happens aggy history will decide Texas was too scared to play the fighting ags anymore
They will continue to play IMO.
They can play each other in non-conference on a rotational home-field schedule.
From the language in the other thread it sounds like they wouldn't play
But I don't know why they couldn't, several teams play late season non conference rivalry games, fla- fla st, GA- GA tech, SC - Clemson I think to name a few
They won't play because Texas would end the relationship as to not give SEC any more exposure in Texas per sources.
This makes sense. I know UT is pissed at A&M for opening up the SEC floodgate on recruits from Texas. A&M just became even more irrelevant if the floodgate does in fact spread to other SEC schools. Nobody is attending A&M when the likes of Alabama, Goergia, Florida and LSU are a callin'.
Supposedly there's a retraction on this, however. A&M reps say they haven't eliminated/turned down any options. They are still reviewing what's best for them. Maybe Texas told them to off if they open up the SEC to Texas HS recruits?

Why the would anyone want to join that redneck conference that is the SEC?
Oh yeah, money.
A&M is making a BIG mistake if they go to the SEC imo.
second that!
Why does this not surprise me coming from a fudgepac 10 fan and a tech . A&M can hold their own, they don't need daddy UT to take care of them like that school in Lubbock or any other of the schools in the big12 do.
Texas is so scared of the fightn' farmers that it wants the fightn' farmers in its conference.
I just PWNED you free of charge.
Dont forget that before your win in Lubbock last year....Tech had ass raped the ags 10 of the last 13 times. Your team has sucked for a long time...get ready to get raped in the SEC, with or withour top talent. Your team has not done for the last decade. Welcome back to the dumpster (as if you ever left), just this time its in the SEC
Go blow some some sheep.
They are welcome to join us. Follow us to the SEC, it's where Oklahoma wants to go anyway and is a heck of a lot closer than California, Oregon etc. That, or schedule an out-of-conference game, Texas will surely need it to improve their strength of schedule in the Pac-16 (minus USC for a few years).
I don't think Texas is afraid of us now, but they're sure as heck afraid of the SEC, and we might be stronger after a few years of struggling. I wouldn't be that surprised to see us beat Texas this year, for that matter.
Man you pulled some nice tail during your school years designatedT!
The only thing Texas or any of the soon-to-be former Big 12 schools is scared of is missing out on the most lucrative of the deals being offered. I honestly do not think the folks in Austin are saying "well, we could take the SEC's offer but we're scared of playing their teams" Its all about the. The guys in Austin, College Station, Norman, whereever who make the calls on where they will go don't give a rat's ass about anyone or anything except their own pockets. If A&M and UT split to different conferences, its not going to be because one is scared of the other or of the compe ion.....its about how much they get paid. Period. To think otherwise is homerish and ignorant.
yes, yes, and yes.......
If I was an Ag, I'd stop worrying about where anyone else wants to be for a while - especially OU. And we teasips stopped being afraid of the Ags a long time ago. Get your together down in College Station and become a player. That's not too much to ask, right?
This is the best opportunity A&M will ever get to claim national relevancy after the turd they've laid over the last decade. Cease all your saw varsity's horns off and tu bull - man up and figure out a way to become more like LSU and less like Mississippi State.
and where is Tech? Your whole University is a joke. Besides your recent football all your other major sports are a joke and now you fired the only thing you had going for you (mike leach). The city of lubbock reeks like and all the rejects who got denied access to UT and A&M become delusional in thinking that you are somehow apart of this Texas football rivalry when in reality nobody gives a rats ass about your irrelevant ins ution. Now go put on your Polo gear and join every other frat got your university produces in continuing your higher education on "How to get rid of an STD".
The money in the Pac-16 is not guaranteed to be better than the renegotiated contract in the SEC. Don't you think if A&M, Texas, Oklahoma, and Ok State went to what is already the best football conference in the nation, they would get a monster television deal (more so than could be reached with a 'Pac-16')?
And Texas is concerned about money, I agree. They've built their program into one of the most successful athletic departments in the nation. When you have that much, you fear losing it; I think they look at the SEC and see one team after another that could beat them 'any given Saturday,' ruining their hopes of a championship (especially based on the way the BCS works right now). By going to the Pac-16 instead, they have a much greater chance of avoiding those losses and of being a more likely contender every year.
My hope is that in going to super-conferences, we will soon see some form of playoff system, which would lessen the chance of being eliminated from contention for a championship just because you played a tough schedule and happened to lose a game or two along the way. If Texas wants a massive money deal, they should join what is already the best conference in the nation with A&M, OU, and Ok State and push for a playoff system. I don't see how the returns could get much bigger than with an SEC that added those teams.
